Actually, Dawn French is the genius in all of this. I bow to French and Saunders as an American who appreciates their wonderful contributions to the world of comedy. Thank you. Thank you also to the person who posted this. Peace 2008

Wonderful to see the late, great Frankie Howerd. The greatest standup in the English language ever. RIP Sir Francis of Howerd.

Its interesting to see which comedians can be very open and honest, without putting on a permanent veil of comedy, and which just tell jokes.

I don't know if they'll hate you, but they will find it hard to dispute you, as it is true. Maybe weird, but true.

Apparently he was a bit of a control freak when he used to do Monty Python. Rumour has it that he was one of reasons they broke up. But he seems to have mellowed with time :-). I can't even begin to think about what comedy would be like today if we didn't have the Pythons. It seems that so many groups today are trying to copy them (namely the Boosh), but none even come close to the comic genius of those men at that time :-). Love 'em

@118moustache I would say that although "funniness" isn't really quantifiable, laughter is, and male comedians do tend to make audiences laugh more than female comedians. This is because, while the females are inclined to laugh louder and more in an audience, they aren't inclined to laugh at female comedians. So when the half of the audience that does the most laughing isn't laughing at the female comedians, it's easy to say that men are "funnier" than women. But irl it's down to personal taste.
