Lowdown stands the test of time because of Boz's amazing vocals and the many hooks in the song. The drum beat in the beginning, the bass pluck at the beginnning, flutes and the "I wonder wonder wonder whooooooooo...."
@Spartanm333 Жыл бұрын
The drums on this song are down to Jeff Porcaro who co-wrote it he of Toto and Steeley Dan - amazing session drummer who almost recruited Michael McDonald into Toto. Mike appeared on I'll Be Over You as a member of the band.

REALLY hard vocals to sing. This guy is a human phenomenon at 71. SOUNDS 70's-tastic!
@campyoldie9 жыл бұрын
+Zuma Dogg What a great and intelligent comment; no-one ever seems to consider that sort of thing. But the hardest job is that of the drummer, trying to emulate the brilliant Jeff Porcaro (RIP).Didn't see this as I can't stand Jules Holland; always sounds about as sincere as Ulrika Jonsson saying 'Ouch' on her wedding night.
@captpogossian9 жыл бұрын
+Zuma Dogg There's an interesting interview with him somewhere on YT where he talks about his singing. Says his voice on the early recordings embarrasses him. Still sounds good to me though. He comes over as a modest and engaging human being. Long may he endure!

One of my favorite compositions because it's so cryptic it can mean anything you want it to mean. Like, what's the lowdown on life? You can make it a dirty job you hate or turn it into easy money or people you love. Written as a filler song to complete an album, never imagined it would be a hit but that's how the "lowdown" works my friends.
