Great video again. I remember Jan 87 waiting on Farncombe station wondering when our train would turn up. Invariably it would be loco hauled by a 31 or 33 due to the conditions and absolutely rammed.Happy days!!

All that way for nought 2:00 lol. Wonderfully atmospheric video thanks for posting! Nothing would stop Diesel power back then.. Is that an old Western Railway logo on the DMU at 4:02?! 6:18 a actual appropriately regional accent instead of the dour nothing-accents of today!!

Some great filming there! Only last week (Sept 2023) the final HST workings called at Cheltenham, CrossCountry having been forced by the government to let them go. Not a great many changes at platform level over the years, except a new signal for terminating Down trains in the Up platform (which very rarely happens anyway!), and of course the areas for parcels and postal traffic.

What does the letter B mean on the DMU’s ?

Means it's a Bristol Division allocated set. 'L' was used for London, 'C' for Cardiff and 'P' for Plymouth.
