Fantastic video. I spent my childhood and early adulthood travelling regularly between St Helens and Lime Street. It's great to see and hear it just as I'll always remember it. The sound of the motors of the 86s and the Sulzer engines of the class 47s bring back so many memories. One thing I miss is the sound of real human announcers. I love the well-spoken Scouse accents of the ladies in this video. I loved seeing the Pacers faithfully bouncing along performing their local duties. I was always envious of people going further afield on the loco-hauled trains as I sat in my St Helens-bound Pacer!

There are many stations in the UK I really get excited about, whether for the architecture, or simply for their photogenic qualities or visual impact. Lime Street is right up there in my personal top ten! Thanks for this nostalgic reminder! Brilliant!

I was there quite often then. Many Newcastle-Manchester-Liverpool 47s and London AC electrics and the Blackpool ‘club’ 31/4s. A monumental feat, building the approach to Lime St, similar to Glasgow Queen St. Another super offering, thanks for sharing with us👍

Thank you for sharing this, the days when the railway was a public service, not a business. It is also refreshing to her human announcements too.

So much nostalgia in one video there. I had a Lima 86401 and I was a RR member too. I used to love going to Liverpool Lime Street from Manchester, then I would try to catch a 37 to Crewe. Of course, I would use Casey Jones , loved their burgers.
