Thanks for posting. Brings back many wonderful memories of holidays in Cornwall, first as a kid, and then as a parent with my own kids. For a modeller like myself so much invaluable information recorded, especially the use of mixed passenger parcels trains on the Cornish mainline. Thanks again for taking the time and trouble to upload. Just a pity the hydraulics had all gone before you got there.

"Fings ain't what they used to be"...the familiar moan of the trainspotter through the generations. Ian Jack wrote that dewy eyed nostalgia leading to a pessimistic view of the present and future is a good reason never to put rail enthusiasts in charge of anything important😀 I was about 10 when this video was shot and well remember being on platforms with Class 50s whizzing through whilst my dad and uncle complained how much more interesting it was in steam days. In 30 years' time I fully expect my son to be looking back wistfully at videos of all the Hitachis, Pendolinos and Voyagers of his childhood.

Anyone know where the clay hoods were going in the shot at Bodmin Road? Didn't look like ball clay but maybe was ?

I think Moorswater (off the Liskeard-Looe branch) received china clay trains until the early/mid 1990s? Trains from Moorswater to Burngullow, St Blazey or Fowey would all have to go through Bodmin. Weren't there also china clay trains to both Scotland and the Stoke area back then?

@@kevinfowkes2327 Ha, of course Kevin! 2 years ago my geography of the area as clearly wanting! Of course Moorswater! Re other traffic, the Stoke trains were sheeted/un-hooded wagons... called the Clayliner. Not sure if they ever got to Scotland in those days, but certainly later airbraked stock did and does, unless that too has vanished?!
