Great work, I'm glad you're continuing this project cause you do good comparisons between the two and have access to much more dynamic practice settings than the 50yd indoor range I'm currently stuck with (working on it). I'd be interested in a comparison where you run the 14.5 upper without a stock, just to control for the optics being the same. Could you describe your technique for handling recoil standing unsupported? Rhett has often talked about stretching the gun out like drawing a bow, pushing forward with the front hand and pulling back with the rear hand. Recently I've been trying that with a Driven Arms Shortstop turned around like Rhett has on his shotgun, but it seems like that won't work as well for barricade shooting like this, so I might end up going back to the Arisaka Indexer at 6 o'clock. With the Indexer between my first and second fingers it gives me a little more grip whether I'm pulling or pushing with the front hand. I've also tried the slung technique he demoed in early videos, where you tension the sling so that you get a cheekweld, then press forward with both hands against recoil (the same two-handed push Karl uses without a cheekweld here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJqVYYyme8yUidE ), which seems to improve split times but does require you to be fully strapped into the gun, so not useful if you've just grabbed it in an emergency. Here it looks like you've got your support hand in front of the handstop, so maybe pulling back with the front and pushing forward with the rear, which is consistent with how Rhett describes shooting his most of the time if he's not going for fastest split times

Thanks! And I really should have thought about running the 14.5 sans stock for a better comparison…will definately do that when I have a chance. I’ll post a picture of my front end, but I am running a combination for the arisaka shortstop at the 9/10 o cock for bracing the web of my hand (much like Rhett does with a shockwave) and a bcm angled grip, I find stretching the gun helpful with a sling and standing unsupported but compressing it when I myself am more compressed like in some of those barricade positions or not using the sling, the ability to apply pressure forward or backward seems to really support that configuration

@@morlock8621 I look forward to the control comparison whenever you have time. I can definitely relate to the "why didn't I do that while I was already there?" but that's just how it goes. Ah, running both at once is an interesting idea. I'll have to give that a try. I'd love to see pictures of your setup when you get the chance.

Oh, and since I mentioned optic height in comments on previous videos, I have since dropped back down from 2.075 and 1.93 to a lower 1/3rd like you seem to have here. I feel I can more strongly press the tube into my cheek than my jaw, so I have a more stable eye-to-optic relationship through recoil
