Great review Marc. This is by far my most favorite aromatic fougere fragrance. Hopefully you’ll do a review on Beach Hut man soon.

I love this stuff. Glad to see it grew on you. Got a couple carded samples and loved it right from the beginning. The sillage is magic. And it transitions really well to the dry down. I want to get a bottle when I can find it for a good price. Man, I think 5 sprays would be overkill. I went 3 sprays from my sample and it's super strong and lasts quite well. I think beach hut man has more of a menthol vibe in the beginning than this one. They're both great, though.

To be honest, to me it smells like a niche version of One Man Show by Jacques Bogart (1980). It may not be popular in US and Canada, but in my country everyone loves OMS and is very familiar with its dna. It is one of a kind. So Bracken is really nothing new, but a quality take on it. Still, since OMS was of course reformulated multiple times, loosing some of its natural ingredients, Bracken might be a good option nonetheless. Beautiful bottle indeed! Thanks for a very detailed and professional review , as always 👌

Beach hut man is hands down my favorite a amouage. It easily replaces GIT for me.
@JT-rx1eo3 жыл бұрын
It's a deep earthy green "fern" smell. As if you went deep into the forest and pulled the fern up by the roots, the smell is the deep green of the fern frond itself (if ferns had a smell) PLUS the moist earthy roots with a little mud. Definitely a classic Fougere by definition done with modern materials and techniques. Now the only question is, which of Bracken Man and Houbigant's Fougere Royale 2010 is closest to Paul Parque's 1882 original but cleaned up in a modern way? In other words, if Paul Parquet were alive and working now and wanted to create the same "fern-like" fragrance he did in 1882, which one would it be? Bracken Man and Fougere Royale 2010 are very similar. Very good review, although I like it more than the reviewer, personally. I am one of those "small group" of people who go for these Fougere pieces of art.

I've been wondering about this for a little while, badly I don't have an Amouage retailer here in 514 area and if I go for it is going to be a blind buy even though I love fougere fragrances. Now that I heard your opinion and you said that has some similarity with Fougere Royal I may pull the trigger if I see a decent price. Last i have a question for you: Would you say or consider this as a "Barbershop" type of fragrance?
@robes086 жыл бұрын
not a barbershop scent, you'd think so with lavender among others that could give you that vibe but no amouage really brought the "fern" "mossy" ideas here
@headspaceaudio77456 жыл бұрын
Sr Fragancia do not make this huge mistake, if you want a barbershop scent, go with replica (at the barbers) 1000 times better
@senorfragancia8386 жыл бұрын
Jey Rev thanks, man I own At the Barbers is just that someone somewhere mentioned that Bracken Man had barbershop vibe, that all but I will try to teste first thanks again.
@JT-rx1eo3 жыл бұрын
@@robes08 I agree, as a classic Fougere in the genre of Houbigant Fougere Royale (1882 or 2010) Bracken Man is spot on. As a "barbershop" Fougere it's not quite there. Which indicates that the classic Fougere evolved somewhat before it became associated with the barbershop and gave us the Rive Gauche Pour Homme, At the Barbers, TF Beau de Jour, Azzaro Pour Homme's of the world.

The idea of fougere royal was to create a scent based on something that has no smell. The fern has no smell. So the artay side of the creators said how do we make a fragrence that smells like something IF the fern had a smell and voilia the fougere was born. Amouage did something similar with one of their opus series. They took the chamilia flower which again has no smell and created a fragrence to smell like what the chamilia flower would smell like. I love u robes08 but no fragrence is a fern based scent because ferns have no smell my friend. :) -Ramsey

It’s like ciel man is the most perplexing soap fragrance with the peach and incense together with traditional barber soap vibe these fresh amouages are something else bracken is awesome it’s not appreciated though

Robes, I respect your review, but I feel like a lot of reviewers are hyping up such a disaster of a fragrance that is bracken man. This fragrance is extremely nutmeg heavy with ancient woods. I'd be in shock if females approve of this scent. The lavender or any type of florals and citruses are non existent in this fragrance but I can appreciate what you're doing bro
@willbuesseler87393 жыл бұрын
Totally disagree, Iove this fragrance.
@JT-rx1eo3 жыл бұрын
I completely, totally and utterly disagree also. Everyone is entitled to there opinion and I'm not saying you are wrong, but I have to do this piece of art justice and say I utterly disagree. This my be the best example of a Fougere in history. It is so many orders of magnitude superior to a thing like Sauvage (not the 1966 Eau Sauvage EDT that also is a classic masterpiece) that only the 19 year old bubblegum chompers would disagree with.

@@JT-rx1eo what notes pop out to you?
@JT-rx1eo3 жыл бұрын
@@headspaceaudio7745 Cedar, patchouli and lavender. An absolute work of art. But again, I'm not saying you are wrong. Frag appreciation is way too subjective and variable. A Rorsach test for the nose. Many people rate Cartier Declaration highly and I think that frag is a disaster (due to the way, way, way too dominant cumin accord. Body odor). Just saying I think Bracken Man is a masterpiece and so I'm defending it.

It's a nice scent, but as you said - not for the price. They should have produced this collection in smaller/different bottles for much cheaper, kind of like TF's signature line. I wouldn't mind buying a 50ml of this line for around 120$ (or even 30ml for 90$). But will not spend above 300$+ for it. It's too western and ordinary for the higher bracket.
@robes084 ай бұрын
Great point. I'm sure changing bottles, presentation would cost them more as now everything is pretty standard over there now. Good idea tho.

@@robes08 I gave up. After finishing a decant, and since this perfume has been discontinued, I hunted down one of the last bottles in my country and bought it. The scent grew on me while using the small decant (or large sample if you will). I don't mind Sunshine Man or Beach Hut Man... it's Bracken that I was afraid I'd miss if I didn't lock in a bottle. I have a few Amouage decants (5ml) but Bracken was my most worn one. Got it for 200$. oh well... I'll thank myself in a few years.
