This account is my mothers, I’m her son and she loves country music. She’s actually the one who got me into country. I didn’t like country till 3 years ago. I’m 15 and I still love this song it really hits you deep. I of course don’t know what it feels like to lose someone you hold so dear but I really love this song, I’m sorry to those who have lost a loved one. Sorry I wrote such a long comment. Have a good day.🙂😁

I'm not sure what's more sad. The song, or the fact that just over 10 years ago this was actually a hit. Where the hell did good music go? We've traded songwriters like Bill Anderson for songwriters like Dallas Davidson and Chase Rice

Years ago I listened to this song when my wife cheated... Now it's been almost 7 years and here I sit...in a situation that shouldn't have ever happened...and it's like what happened 7 years ago is nothing compared to this. I'd never have figured I be listening to this song again...in this situation. Had you told me years ago I'd end up in all this hell I would have laughed and never believed it...makes you wonder where it ends...

She put him out Like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette She broke his heart He spent his whole life tryin' to forget We watched him drink his pain away A little at a time But he never could get drunk enough To get her off his mind Until the night He put that bottle to his head And pulled the trigger And finally drank away her memory Life is short, but this time it was bigger Than the strength he had to get up off his knees We found him with his face down in the pillow With a note that said, "I'll love her 'til I die" And when we buried him beneath the willow The Angels sang a whiskey lullaby La la la la la la la, la la la la la la laa La la la la la la la, la la la la la la laa The rumors flew But nobody knew how much she blamed herself For years and years She tried to hide the whiskey on her breath She finally drank her pain away A little at a time But she never could get drunk enough To get him off her mind Until the night... [Chorus: Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss] She put that bottle to her head And pulled the trigger And finally drank away his memory Life is short, but this time it was bigger Than the strength she had to get up off her knees We found her with her face down in the pillow Clinging to his picture for dear life We laid her next to him beneath the willow While the Angels sang a whiskey lullaby La la la la la la la, la la la la la la laa La la la la la la la, la la la la la la laa La la la la la la la, la la la la la la laa La la la la la la la, la la la la la la laa

Stephen Kim to be fair, this came out around the same time that there were the crossroads performances were done. Country could mix with other genres back in the late 90’s and early to mid 2000’s. Point being, country music isn’t like this anymore. It’s more pop oriented last I heard. I stopped listening after this era.

Again and again it surprises me how a few basic chords and a good melody, well arranged and played, can sound so distinct, create an individual mood ...distill a sense of magic from what is basically the same old timeworn ingredients, (D,G,A,Bm...) which, by all reason, should by now be used up, emptied out, without distinguishing feature. Brand it, bottle it and hand down that timeless flavor!

Lyrics: She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette She broke his heart, he spent his whole life tryin' to forget We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind Until the night He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away her memory Life is short, but this time it was bigger Then the strength he had to get up off his knees We found him with his face down in the pillow With a note that said, "I'll love her till I die" And when we buried him beneath the willow The angels sang a whiskey lullaby La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath She finally drank her pain away a little at a time But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind Until the night She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away his memory Life is short, but this time it was bigger Then the strength she had to get up off her knees We found her with her face down in the pillow Clinging to his picture for dear life We laid her next to him beneath the willow While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la

I got to see Alison and Union Station in Vancouver a couple years ago, 3rd row centre at he Orpheum. Of course the show was absolutely amazing, the whole band was fantastic. I'm a professional musician, and have toured and opened for many many top acts across Canada, and that show is the one I remember most of all, and the drummer is Canadian, how cool is that....my dream job!!

it's been almost 4 years since I lost someone very special to me named Brooklyn....and I still cry because it should have never ended this way.... I still can't believe she did what she did ... I believe that some things a man just can't forget. some things just don't go away....I will never know what true love is now...becuase I walked away from the woman I should have been with forever...to stand by Brooklyns side...and it cost me my life...and she doesn't even care. Lindsey I'm so sorry....my god I'm sorry.

Alison sounds so much better in this live performance compared to the studio version. I don't know but her voice sounds louder, stronger and fuller so to say.

Been here a few times in my 67 years. I know this pain all too well and the fruitless remedies in getting stoned to get rid of it. Love either works or it doesn't between two people. It is true, only time can heal a heartbreak.

This song is such a pure-voice song - It sounds as good as the VEVO recorded version.....so many artists today rely on technology to sound good, and when you hear them in concert, the song loses alot. Paisley and Krauss are such good artists that it doesn't matter.
