My grandpa got off that bench today. His wait was over. My grandma died in her sleep last night at the age of 100. She had said for years that she was ready to be with him... but she made him wait. Now God is finished with her here on earth and the wait is over. I love and miss you both, Grandpa and Grandma.

My fiancé and I would listen to this all the time and laugh because I was always late! He passed away this past Christmas and its hard to know how I will navigate life without him as I am only 35 and he was 37. I know he will be waiting for me. That being said this also makes me think of his grandma, who will be 91 this year. We have lived with her the past 5 years not wanting her to be alone. She basically raised him his whole life. She lost her husband in 2019, her only son a year later in 2020, and now my fiancé, her grandson. All the men in her life are gone. But if I know anything I know all 3 of them are sitting on a bench patiently waiting. Her husband and son will be ready to take her hand and show her the other side, and my hunny will give her a huge hug and sit back down to wait for me. They wouldnt expect anything less. It's because the country music of today is about real life. We wouldn't have music like this now if it wasn't for "Southern Rock" bands from the mid 70s n early 80s. Skynard, Creedance, Charlie Daniels Band and, my personal favorite, ZZ Top, even though they were more of a rock/blues band, did a lot back then to give us todays country music. Hank Jr. Waylon, Chris and Johnny as well as many more can also take credit for todays country music

@Bradpaisleymusicinc unfortunately, I have not had the pleasure of seeing you in person. I hope that at some point you will perform in a city close enough to see your show. Due to my age, I don't drive as often and would need my daughter to drive me. I'm certain that you will always have one of the most fun shows to see. I enjoy the humor in your song choices. However, I do listen to your music on KZbin, and I do have one of your cds to play. When my Mom and Dad were still alive, they were great fans of your music as well. You bring joy to so many people. I hope that you realize the value you impart to so many in this world. Thank you for your reply. Be safe in all your travels and never stop doing the wonderful music you give to the world. We need good things in life with positive messages. I so love Stubborn Angels. It reminds me of my brother! Thanks again for your time and questions. I am certain that you are very busy. Take care. ❤️

My Granny spoke of how she would have this regular dream of her husband who died in 2004, sitting on a park bench, and he said 'Why don't you come and sit with me?' But she hesitated and didn't. She couldn't figure out why she never went... My mum thought maybe if she did she would have passed over... last week she died and I'd like to think she finally sat down beside him.

I had a different version of this song previously, but THIS one is now my absolute favorite!! The combination of the two of them makes it so much more special. My dad was in the Air Force, and I was forever waiting for him to come home. His voice and Southern drawl was so very much like Andy Griffith's that I watched every show he was in and dreamed that HE was my dad, and I could see him on TV. Mom and Dad are together now ... In Heaven, with Andy. And now ... I'm waiting on MY man ... to come home ... Thanks both of you, for the perfect song ...

My sweet Daddy is in Heaven waiting on me, not my mom. That may sound weird or wrong but he told me before he died that he had most of his people already waiting for him in Heaven, including my little boy who never saw this earth. He said that I'm his one good thing, his reason for being alive, and that while he doesn't ever want me to hurry up to meet him, he'll be waiting to take me home when God calls me. That has stuck deep in my heart and soul for so long. He died in March 2021, and I've not been the same since. I love my husband and I'm thankful for him... God knows I'm thankful.... I'd be long long gone if not for his love and strength. But I'm surely changed by the loss of my Daddy, my best friend until I met my husband and still a near tie of one then. And I know, despite him having loved my mother tenfold more than she loved him (though neither would ever say that), and I know he treasured his own parents and his brother who had gone many years before him.... I know that he loved me the most of any person he ever had in his life. He told me so and I believe him. He's waiting on me with my little boy, my grandparents, my uncle, and oh so many loved ones who I will be happy to see.... They're just all hoping I'll take my time, because they don't mind, waitin'.... on me.
@HattieDame Жыл бұрын
I know that if my husband goes before me, he won't have to wait very long. I'll be not long behind him because I cannot live without him. He's my best friend, my first and only love, and the very strength with which I keep going. I'd step into death a million times over before him without a single thought, for I'd know he could go on living and I'd gladly wait. I cherish him so very much, more than I could ever express in words or actions. Life hasn't been easy with me and God knows I feel such shame in it, my health being such a burden on him. I pray that I can show him how truly beholden I am to him, and that I am grateful for such a strong man to help me shoulder this difficult life. I love you, my husband, my heart.
