I know it's not much of a comparison between the three but Randy Moss being a West Virginia Native and Chad Pennington not a West Virginia Native but like Randy Moss Chad Pennington played College Football for Marshall University before joining The NFL. But I like I said I don't know if either of them will compare to Brad Paisley because Football and Music Careers are two different animals. But Randy Moss and Chad Pennington did put my hometown of Huntington West Virginia on the map to be noticed by people because of their football careers. And The 1970s Marshall University Plane Crash that killed the juniors and seniors of the team also put Huntington West Virginia on the map for people also. Just wish people would stop seeing all West Virginians as back wood and uneducated hillbillies.

the lyric about his teacher always hits home. growing up with severe ADHD, school was extremely difficult and a lot of teachers didn't support or care about me the way the did for their other students. but there's a handful of teachers that took extra time in class, gave me any extra credit work to raise my grades, and overall just had more patience with me. those people had such an impact on me and taught me the importance of asking for help and believing in your strengths and showing compassion to your own weaknesses. teachers are all of our unsung heroes.
@mathewdecorse57482 жыл бұрын
Teachers are way under appreciated. They are literally teaching the next generations and they get garbage pay with minimal benefits and still invest their own money to support some class projects. No doubt they are heros. Without them i wouldn't be where im at. Not a millionaire but found what im good at and live a comfortable life.

I'm 14 and Iisten to this song almost everyday. It reminds you of important things. When you're having a rough time it teaches you life goes on even when it feels impossible. It teaches you that yeah there is a ton of things you get when you grow up but you always look back on these years because it is your foundation for life. My favorite line in this song is the one where he tells himself to hug his Aunt every chance he gets. Teaches you one of the most important things in life: Love your family with all your heart because what if tomorrow something happened to them or you? Would you really want to end on a bad note with your family? This is truly my favorite song and will always be.

This song makes me tear up, honestly. I just think about all of the great times and the friends that I went to high school with. I went to a small school and there were only 46 people in our graduating class, and 90 percent of us had been together since 1st grade. The thing is, when you're in high school having a good time, it never occurs to you that those days will end someday. Hell, it didn't hit me until graduation day. So all you high school kids out there, PLEASE cherish and live every day, every friday night football game, every pep rally, and every party at the kids house who's parents are out of town for the weekend to the fullest. Enjoy it, make the most of it. Have the time of your life. Go to prom, get your heart broken, get your drivers license and your first car, and don't take anything too seriously. Because believe me, I will bet you ANYTHING that you will be like me one day, wishing that you could live those carefree days all over again. I would give ANYTHING to suit up and play just ONE more football game on Friday night in my hometown stadium before my hometown crowd. It goes by way too fast my friends. So PLEASE heed my advice now, because one day you'll be the one typing something similar to this.

My sweetheart and I broke 2 weeks before my graduation. We got together the middle of my sophomore year. I was so devastated. I didn't even know if I would make it through finals. See I was a teenage mother in 1986. I was the only one to have a baby that year in my class. I met him when she was 2 weeks old. He was only 18 and I was 15. I think for him losing her at the time was harder than losing me. You don't appreciate what you've got until its gone. We both know that now. We split in 1988 it was the most horrible time of my life. By 1990 we were back together with a lot of baggage now in between. We had a lot of issues to work out in our relationship and was not easy, but one thing we learned that no matter how it was to do it together it was even harder being apart. We went to have 6 children.. The baby is going to turn 20 this year. We have never let each go again. We will celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. May 8, 2022...the same date as my Senior prom and the last night we spent together then our breakup May 10th, 1988. Everyone said we wouldn't make because of our History...I say our History is what made us....and We are Truly happy at now...55 and 51...to the Future...May songs like and artists like him.continue to Exist!

I'm 30 years old and I could write a novel on the things I would have done differently at that age....but the main thing that I'd want at least one kid to hear from me (because in reality it isn't advice to the past me) is NEVER let ANYONE make you change you....don't try to be who you're not....don't worry about fitting in with the "cool kids", BE YOU and LOVE YOU and you will develop friendships that are authentic and genuine....THOSE will be your shoulders to lean on....the arms you can run to....the encouraging conversations when all feels lost....and the LOVE that will pull you out of your darkest pits....and don't be afraid of being who you are because YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL....YOU ARE DESERVING OF TRUE FRIENDSHIP....AND YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE....I truly wish that I'd have had someone to say those things to me because I allowed myself to lose ME by trying to be who everyone else wanted me to be and I spent so long not knowing who I was, therefore not blossoming into who I COULD HAVE had I made wiser decisions....That's why I HOPE that this resonates with SOMEONE because at least then I can be content in knowing that THAT one of my many, many, MANY (lol) mistakes wasn't for nothing....it was so I could be the one to say these words to someone that needed to hear them....

I am a senior in highschool right now and times have been thought for me. I have never been the most popular, or the prettiest girl, or have the most friends. But I have enough to make me happy. I've met amazing people and have learned so much about myself. I am not the same person I was 5 years ago. People I hated in 9th grade are now some of my closest friends. Sometimes highschool is shitty and unfair, but things tend to work out. I look back at all the people who put me down and told me I would never amount to anything and now all I have to say to them is fuck you I am going to college with scholarships. I have schools fighting for me. Things get better and years from now you will look back and say I really got upset over that? Wow I'm glad I didn't let those people effect my life. I know it's easier said than done but trust me bigger and better things are coming for you. Some of my best friends I met doing sports in high school. These are people I wouldn't have ever talked to outside of athletics. But now one of them is like my brother he's amazing. But if I let people put me down and discourage me I would have never met him. I know it's hard and I know it seems like everyone says this but it's true. What happens in high school doesn't define who you are or what life holds for you. It really doesn't. I know it's hard to think about the future when right now everything is so crappy but please trust me, everything will get better. The feeling you get when you can look your bullies in the eyes and say improved you wrong is the greatest moment you will have and it is a great feeling. Remember, you don't have tot prove anything to them. What happens to you doesn't affect them in anyway if you succeed it doesn't affect them, you fail it doesn't affect them either. Do what makes you happy and what will get you through your high school years bey case as long as your making yourself happy that's all that matters. I wish someone told me this when I was younger, I need to do what makes me happy and not worry about what everyone else is saying or doing, in the end if I'm happy and I'm succeeding dies it really matter what people say or think? I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter.. I don't know if this will help you but I truly hope someone reads this and it helps them!

+elden strawder I dont know what you have against colleges but to be honest that is the most ignorant thing I have ever seen on a youtube comment and trust me ive seen alot. College is not about partying, yes some may over due partying as a freshman or maybe a sophmore but the people who can even become "over qualified" for a job will have to try atleast a little bit in college. I am not you or even know you so i cant say for sure if you were joking or just have so sad of a life that you need to complain that your boss is 20 years younger than you. Also college is older than this country dumbass.

This song describes me down to a T. I am 17 and just recently had a 7 month relationship crash and burn. And yeah, it does feel like there’s still a knife in my back. And even as I write this, I am studying algebra to get a good grade on my test tomorrow. All of Brad’s lyrics resonate with me. But don’t think I am looking for pity from anyone. Trust in the Lord and He will bless you. “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil.” Proverbs 3:6-7

I’m 17 currently and I can honestly say I’m at the biggest possible “rock bottom” point in my life that any given 17 year old could be at. My birthday was a few days ago and my cousin suggested this song to me. I’m not an emotional type, but when I listened to it in my room later I couldn’t help but start bawling. I hope when I’m Brad Paisley’s age I can turn on this song and look back at my teen years and see how far I’ve come.

This song has actually helped me to not become one of those people who are focused on being popular or dating or anything like that. It helped me realize a long(ish) time ago that there is more to life than just high school and that I can't sweat the not being liked thing or the being cursed at or hated thing. Whenever I need a reminder of that, this song just always appears. Like this morning when I was feeling a bit down and worried, or just a bit ago when someone I thought was a friend did a big so friendly thing. This song just popped into my head and listening to it has reminded me that I'll be okay. Thank you Brad Paisley. Thank you.

I'm 16 now and I feel like I'm in my 20s listening to it to make the best out of my high school years, I was always quiet and didn't follow the crowd or get involved much, I just wanted to finish high school and leave, I have not much time left but I've dealt with so much past 2 years and I know better years are only to come. Country music speaks to me on a whole new deeper level.

After my first major breakup with my high school sweetheart I met my, now, wife. It hurt so much but it got better. You could never have convinced me that the cute girl in the bakery would be my baby's mama one day. Life gets better.

That's right kids, get to your school work, don't sweat the crap, I survived, as did those before me, and believe me, I put up with quite a bit of it, you'll find climbing to the top of the popularity list, or being at the bottom means absolutely squat 20 years from now. You will see at your reunion, those who you wished you were, many of them will not be living the life you are now, often times, they have been put through a struggle, and the fame from high school totally faded away. We all want to grow up so fast, when you get there, you'll find yourself daydreaming about being young, life's funny.

This song is VERY much true, even though Brad recorded it over 12 years ago. It expresses Brad's life in high school. I didn't go to school with Brad but he has said so in TV interviews. The School in the video is the ACTUAL school he attended. The "weird" ending with Brad on stage and people around him went there as well. That part of the video was filmed by his parents and a couple of his Buddies.
@scotthunt24798 ай бұрын
That's not actually Brad getting the crown. According to Wikipedia..... " In the end after the song is done, there is a short outro of footage of Paisley being given a crown during a school assembly in 1991. This scene was not home footage. It was shot in present day, with an actor playing a younger Paisley." Still, it was a cool way to end the video.

This song... I was five years old when this song came out, my dad and I singing along to the lyrics with not a care in the world. Now, here I am at 23, and slowly realizing this song is right, whether it be through confirmation bias or if Brad is just that amazing of a storyteller. Broke up with my girlfriend after 7 months when I was 16/17, eventually got back together with her and now she makes me the happiest man on earth. I get in arguments with my dad even today and still try to remember "Just assume you're wrong, and Dad is right", and that plays out so true so many times. Remembering how much "pressure" I thought was on me in high school only to realize there's a bigger world out there. This is just one of the many Brad Paisley songs that bring tears to my eyes, because they're so true and he just has such a great way of telling a story/promoting a message/lesson.
