@@BradDison I read of a boy that was badly burnt in an accidental fire. Mostly on his legs, never to walk again. Drs. wanted to amputate them but he was adamant and talked them out of it. His parents helped massage his legs and he did too as much as possible. Long story short he too was in the Olympics. His name was Glenn Cunningham. I love these kinds of stories. No asking for help they did it themselves. His favorite bible verse was. Isaiah 40-31. I'll let you look that one up.

Thanks, Brad. What a family! Number-wise and sticking together. This was back when the norm wasn't to just run to the gov with hands out! God blessed (and he did!) this family! I can sit here now enjoying the evening years just BECAUSE of families such as this. And God bless YOU, Mr. Brad, for reawakening us to the importance of this.

I had polio at four years old. My calves were drawn up both legs. I wish my mom was like Wilma mom . Mine left me on the sofa with no one to help. I worked hard to learn to walk, a few years later a doctor asked my mom when I had polio and she didn't answer. I now have post polio syndrome, what ever you do please care enough to get polio vaccine for your kids, it's a disease that can be gotten uncontrollable,

I'm very sorry to hear about your post polio syndrome. I don't think I've ever heard of that. I hope you're doing well. :)

We must have a family that cares enough about us to never give up I will never give up on my children and I will never give up on myself but most of all I will never give up on Humanity because no matter how much evil is out there there is so much more good even if it takes your whole life try and find the good it's worth it I'm not Paul Harvey good day

A supportive family is of the utmost importance. Someone once told me that "if you look for the bad in the world, you will find it. If you look for the good, you will find it." I choose to look for the good but I keep my eyes open. :)

Imagine her doing all she did to walk and then run, and her family's sacrifices to get her to that point of actually competing in the Olympics, only to have her beaten by a trans-athlete. Wouldn't that have been a total atrocity and injustice?
@BradDison Жыл бұрын
That Paul Harvey story would've been completely different. I can definitely see what the twist would've been. :)

She had a great family. I had polio at 2 years old and my legs like hers did. My mom would rub my legs until she gave out, and ask my dad to run them, his hands were much stronger than mom's and it really helped the pain, but when the pain was much better he would ask is that better?when I said yes he would turn his hands to a chop position and just chop all up and down my legs to make them hurt much worse than they had to begin with. He thought that was just the funniest thing ever. What kind of a monster does it take to do that to a little child?and people wonder why I hated him.
@BradDison10 ай бұрын
That's horrible that he would do that. I can't even imagine.
