I believe there are more men and women of honor today than we realize. They don't make the news. They are the Silent Majority. They are working hard at their jobs, raising families and making contributions to their communities. It was a very small percentage of the population who wanted to break free from England. And yet, they won the Revolutionary War. I agree this country has lost a lot, but I am not ready to give up on her. People are waking up. A spiritual re-awakening has been happening. American history has to be taught. Dr. Carson founded Little Patriots for students K-5. They have to know why this country is great and worth fighting for. Shawn Ryan, a former Navy seal and CIA contractor was interviewed recently by Megyn Kelly. I have always appreciated our Veterans. Most do not openly talk about what war was like. I understand that. But in hearing some of the details of war, my appreciation of Veterans has greatly increased. America has to do a better job of supporting our Veterans. May God bless America!

The most telling thing to me about the Declaration of Independence is it speaks of the DUTY of the People, not just the Rights of the People. I quote, _"Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly, all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their DUTY, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."_

Brad. I hope you see this... I will say that this is the best video you have ever posted. This tells of the actual hardships that the founding fathers had to endure. Loss of lands. Loss of wealth. And eventually loss of their loved ones and their lives. Every single person in this country should see this. People in this country are so concerned about some of the dumbest things possible. When they have no idea of what THESE MEN and their families had to endure for the freedoms we take for granted today. My hat is off to you for showing this to us on such a great day. Until this video I honestly had no idea. Thank you for educating me since this was never spoken of in such detail in school. Have a great 4th of July.

Wow, I'd never heard this before-- either blissfully or foolishly unaware of the existence of this most powerful message from Mr. Harvey. I can't know if his brilliant son penned this, or if Mr. Harvey himself did. But it's an extremely powerful and moving testament to the real sacrifices so many of these men made. And it's so much more impactful and meaningful than these past few decades' worth of passing political "fads" that has consumed the fervor of the neo-patriots who spout their nonsense endlessly to mostly themselves and occasional innocent bystanders. "Talking Points", they're called, though they're really cheap slogans lacking any real meaning-- and certainly won't be backed-up with any form of sacrifice or even honor. Let these words guide your appreciation of this July 4. You'll be a better person for it. Thank you for posting this, Brad!

May we never fall. Sadly the greatst enemy does not lay without but from within telling you it will make America Great Again. She may have stumbled but this great lady has never fell! Great from the begining.Great to the end should it ever come. America is the last flickering light of hope the world looks to for hope. Don't let her fall. In November vote.

Vote your conscience and decide for yourself. I tell myself the same thing constantly. There is always hope. :)

As a nation, we need to turn back to God. American history has got to be taught, not skimmed and not watered down. We need to appreciate the sacrifices of the military personnel and their families. We need to take better care of the Veterans. The nuclear family has to be valued. Dr. Carson founded Little Patriots. It is for grades K-5. Dr. Carson believes the children have to learn the history to know why this country is special and worth fighting for. There are days, I don't recognize the country I grew up in. Yet, I am not ready to give up on America. There are a lot of hard working Americans who love this country. They don't make the news. They are busy taking care of their families and helping out in the community. I had recently read that John Hancock's ship was burned in the Boston Common. I grew up in MA and I had never learned that. Thank you for sharing this video

I'm very glad you enjoyed the video. I agree completely. History is often glossed over. At first I wanted to be a high school history teacher. I quickly learned that in most schools that history was taught by someone who was a sports coach first. By that I mean that sports came first then teaching history. Very sad. The America that you remember is still here but it's a little under the surface. I have hope for the future. :)

Every citizen of this Republic should hear this,I doubt that 1 in 10,000 knows this story, I didn't, & I love history, but I missed this one. I guess I need to read more & do more research. As a published writer I find I don't know as much as I thought I did....what about you.

Exactly. In my twenties, I knew everything. Now I feel like there’s so much out there that I need to learn. If I lived a thousand lifetimes, I wouldn’t have enough time to learn all I’d like to know. :)

When you go to vote in November, think about which man would be willing to fulfill this pledge now. Who would give up everything for the nation and for those who live in it.

They are looking upon us from Heaven, proud of what they had given their lives for, proud at what they had created, knowing that so many are gracious for their sacrifice!
