I've commented a similar thing in a different reaction but Halsey is the artist that I can identify myself the most with. Is really interesting to see other people that haven't gone through the same traumas that both me and her have gone through interpret the album, there is so much pain, self destructive behavior, pure rage in the aftermath, where and how those man left us after the abuse, how we feel and see the world differently and how things work inside our heads. I recommend having in mind that a big part of it is about abuse, how society has failed with their woman and how that affects us from a very young age. You'll get a even deeper message than you first realized. This album is a perfect representation of that journey and my tattoo session is already booked because I need that inside my skin.

This whole album is about abuse done in every form that abuse can happen to others like myself and her, and how each abuse affected her and us in our psyche and the visible scars are shown on the body of the abused, and how the non-visible scars has manifested in hers and ours (the abused) shows through our behaviors-like depression and etc. And, it’s also about pregnancy and stressing over it all (including the way our bodies change during the whole duration of the pregnancy and not wanting to mess up her/our babies in type of way, and hoping to at least be able to love the baby unconditionally. Because we had no real good role models to look up to in that regard, to show us how to properly and etc. I can whole heartily say that I can fully relate to her, her story and songs on this album. As for “Lilith” song. Lilith is the queen of hell-due to her fall after Satan’s fall, because she was Adam’s 1st wife, but refuse to do what he wanted her to, and when he wanted her to do whatever Adam wanted Lilith to, bc she and Adam were created as equals, but Adam saw it differently, so Lilith left the Garden of Eden, and God punished her for it, and took away all her babies and made her marry Lucifer, and be the Queen of hell and rule it w/Satan. And she would go and steal Adams seed and kill his children and unborn children and all of those that she could of all humans out-of-jealousy. Lilith was even jealous of the woman angel that Satan was in love with and had children with. Lucifer was also in love with a female human and had children w/her, too, and wanted her as his wife,.. Lilith and Lucifer basically dislike one another.

So, my first listen I LOVED the mix between her voice and the sound of Reznor and Ross. I grew up listening to Nine Inch Nails so the emotions were even higher. I cried NUMEROUS times and nearly lost my shit when I heard Trents voice mixed with hers on Lighthouse at the end. I mean maybe I heard it wrong but its haunting like some of NIN's more impactful songs and to have that happen with her voice on Lighthouse... yummy haunting vibes for sure!!

the light house talks about being stuck in bottomless pit of this manic depression with the lyric supporting this “and im still stranded on the shoreline there, and nobody hears me scream” basically being captivated in this dark hopelessness type of mindset while the lyric “there is a light house in the middle of the deep” talking about her hunt for love kind a ironically similar to the saying “there’s many fish in the see” and a light house is to usually give sailors and people on the ocean a signal to shelter “and i will lure you like a land slide and i’ll show you lovely things” basically tricking them for her own pleasure, but other than that this is a deep but badass song

The instrumentation and the production qualities very much sound like Nine Inch Nails songs. (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails produced the album.) I think it's awesome that Halsey fans are unknowingly becoming Nine Inch Nails fans because of this album.

the song whispers is her talking about her bad thoughts bc of her bipolar diagnose, in my opinion, when she says "you did not want this" was her in some moments of the pregnancy reflecting if she really wanted to be a mum ( with that bad voice in her head) and people that have bipolar disorder usually have unprotective safe sex so they usually are very sexually active, thats why she was saying " this is the voice in your head that says beat i could fuck him" ITS THE MAJOUR BIPOLAR ANTHEM
