They wrote Honey by accident when they showed their brother how they write songs. But the song turned out to be so good that they decided to add it to the album.
@jordanpearson98833 жыл бұрын
Hahaha ok so here are some of the meanings: - You asked for this: she's talking about life as a mom. She asked to be a mom, she asked for a family, and she LOVES her family, but is terrified of the life ahead. They are going to miss the times where they didn't have to care for someone else. They are scared about the responsibility of having a family. - Darling is a love song about her son. - 1121 (November 21st) is the day that she found out she was pregnant. So yes, a love song to their child. - honey is a sexual song about "a wild girl" - Ya'aburnee is a song for both her boyfriend (Alev) and her son. So it's a love song for her family, talking about how she loves them both so much that she cannot fathom the idea of living without them.

Regarding Honey, Halsey said it's about a "wild girl". I really recommend checking their twitter, they answered a few questions regarding some tracks :) Also "You Asked for this" can be about success, but it's rather about her pregnancy and the expectations that followed with this. Like her being a parent was everything they asked for, but it's still scary AF, but she isn't allowed to complain. However, thank you so much again for doing this detailed review! "Ya'aburnee" as a closing song is meant to be an ode to their child, saying they hope they pass before Ender does. Since Ender is a boy, Halsey uses the masculine form of the phrase instead of the feminine. They sing the lyrics "you will bury me / before I bury you."

Try listening to "Bells In Santa Fe" again thinking about this: The song is about a baby she lost a few years ago, the lyrics represent the baby singing to her from inside her belly: "don't call me by my name, all of this is temporary". And maybe the production makes you think that something is going to happen and it never does so it does represent how the birth never happened (that's me assuming, even though the lyrics are truly about this)
@garywatters113 жыл бұрын
Darling is a lullaby to their baby son Ender. 1121 was the date Halsey found out she was pregnant. Honey came about after her younger brother wanted to know about her writing process and she ended up writing Honey and hours later with her manager they realised it was a banger so they added it to the album. She talked about it during the instagram live on release day.

This album is awesome and it is fun to see all the Halsey fans who have no idea what Nine Inch Nails sounds like be super excited over the album. Although they wont find every song to be like this, plenty are far more crunchy on guitar and more angry and the vocals are more screamy at times, but you can still be rewarded, trust me. Me, I like both, so this was an amazing convergence. Steven - are you going to react to Dom's new single Fleabag? Both the song and the video are SICK.

I'm obsessed with this album. I feel the songs can be read in many levels and she's not just addressing one person or situation. It's more diverse than that: it's her, it's a lover, it's the child she is carrying, it's her past, it's her future, it's her present, it's political, it's documenting the life of a woman in our time and yet putting it in context with historical and cultural point of view. It's poetic and complex and open to interpretation and that's the beauty of it. A bundle of everything racing through her mind as she is preparing for a new stage in her life and trying to shed parts of herself away so those things don't affect her when she becomes a mother to her incredibly wanted child. In an interview she said she felt terrified while pregnant, not just that it wouldn't go well due to her fertility issues but because of the responsibility that comes with becoming a parent, she felt she needed to do speed-therapy on herself and rush and "vomit" all the angst out of her system before the baby would arrive and start a new chapter. So I think she changes perspectives in many of the songs, starting from one and then moving on to the next, there's many points of reference inside one song which is why the lyrics at times surprise you because you've already decided this is that type of song and then comes in a line that has the ability to change the narrative entirely. It's lyrically captivating and well-crafted album and the production is genius.
