“You were meant for me” is a must- And FUN FACT- Jewel has one discolored tooth and was asked why she never crowned/“fixed” it or something- She answered to the effect of she was made that way and no ones perfect- we’re individuals for a reason- and she also is very much dedicated to her horses-not sure if the one(s) in her videos are the ones she owns, but I would think so- 🙂

In the later 90's (96-97-ish), we went to the Lilith Fair (Sarah McLachlin). Around 4 in the afternoon, this lady walks out on stage with just a guitar. She sings her heart out and at one point - starts yodeling.... That was my first-time hearing Jewel. From her performance it was clear she was a real a talent. At Lilith, the fair started around 2 PM and went to 10. The later someone played - the bigger the act. It ended with Sarah. At 4 PM - she was basically a warm-up. Not for long though! Such an amazing talent.

I was a pre-teen-teenager during this era, and I couldn’t go to Lilith Fair, but fortunately I lived in a rural suburb in Idaho that has a brand new outdoor amphitheater built in maybe 1997-ish. I got to listen to her, Sarah, and all the rest with my window open from my bed. It was such a cool experience, even though I couldn’t physically be there to see the show.

Jewel has an amazing voice. Her voice has a perfect mix of both airy treble and smooth bass and technically, she is recorded beautifully. The human voice is the most difficult instrument to get on tape (analog at the time). Her Producer, Peter Collins captured her talent beautifully.

Guys, she is amazing isn't she!! Also the record "who will save your soul" (live at Woodstock in 1999 performance/ recording is AMAZING!!!) I TOTALLY love her music, having only discovered her music a couple of years ago!!! (She didn't release anything as far as I know in the UK and I'm gutted cos I'd have been hooked from the start of her career!) I'm glad I discovered her stuff just by chance due to her family doing the Alaska Last Frontier programmes and she appeared on it a few times in like the 3rd or 4th series I think and looked her up out of curiosity as it was clear she must be famous but I had NO IDEA how big a superstar she is! If you watch that programme when you got some spare time it's not only a great programme but you'll get to see the personal side of Jewel (on her family's homestead in Alaska) when she makes the odd appearance, aswell as her Dad (who's in it regularly, who she performed with as a child in bars) before she left home at like 15 or 16 headed for the US.. Another great thing about reaction videos is that I look up info on artists I never would have otherwise. Jewel's family moved from Utah to Alaska shortly after she was born. She lived on a 770 acre homestead until earning a partial scholarship to a performing arts school in Michigan. The town she lived in donated stuff for an auction to help pay for her first year. Just...wow.

You guys have literally experienced only a small fraction of her vocal abilities. Such an incredible singer-songwriter with too many great songs to list. I would recommend doing something live from her as her studio recorded vocals come across as a little more subdued. Seen her about a dozen times in concert. Amazing! Jewel is so creative that she rarely ever sings a song the same way twice, just goes with what moves her at the moment. Also, such a fascinating and admirable life. She overcame a lot of hardships throughout her life, eventually selling over 35 million records despite living on her own terms and not wanting to be a huge star. Cheers.

Anyone else ever think of this? I thought that Jewel and Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 had something going on because in "Foolish Games" says "You took your coat off Stood in the rain, You're always crazy like that" and in "3:00 A.M." Jewel is an amazing singer songwriter who originally hails from Alaska.. (her kin are the Kilchers the family who homesteading lifestyle is the basis of the tv series Alaska the Last Frontier. I have three favorite live singer performances. " I will always love you" Whitney Houston at an awards show. I can't find it on KZbin. If you want to review another Jewel song with some lyrics that would be considered controversial but totally fits in with today's social environment and her voice is awesome on it. The song is called "Pieces of You" I don't think the radio would ever play it because the subject matter of the lyrics would cause to much of a stir with people. I would love you guys to react to it. @@quincee3376 Its about people that are different based on sexual preference, religion, being a pretty female, and how other people think about them and what they would like to possible do to them. She states the reason for that treatment in the song which is the title. Its worth a listen if you get a chance. Jewel was very young as a kind of folk singer songwriter and she at one time was living in her car so her perspective at that young age for that song which was written in 1994 and released in 1995 is pretty impressive.

A bar that take their karaoke serious, and she kills it live as karen. They start cheering her name to sing come back n sing more n more, n then later she comes back as herself, jewel and sings. She sings foolish games while she's Karen and really just kills it.. you can hear her sing with no studio b.s. n she's insanely great as always.

Lol this reminds me of an old prank by #PatGray #PatGrayUnleashed that has been refeatured a few times over the past few years I've been listening / watching. In his earlier radio days he would call up phones and simply, matter of factly read the lyrics to one of her songs, "Hands", to the person who answered.
