I love nuance and context. This conversation quickly reminds me of why so many cultures worldwide trained in all the ranges of fighting plus carried weapons.

That's true! Height and weight are very quickly equalized by weapons.

Very much like that you classified strength and speed as skills. I never understood how abilities developed through years of focused practice can be looked at as anything else.
@CombatSelfDefense

I think people confuse a person’s natural strength/speed with the strength/speed one can develop for years of training. Bradley Martyn may be naturally athletic, but nobody looks like him without first working their ass off

@@CombatSelfDefense Did you ever see the video where Shaq went into a BJJ school and balled up the old black belts there?? Yes, they were older, but still black belts and they could do nothing with him. Dana White also set up a grappling match between Shaq and Forrest Griffin. I think Forrest won, but it was not easy and he flipped Forrest at least once! Now still keep in mind Shaq has been training MMA and BJJ off and on for about 20 years… But it proves your point. You can do a YT search in both and they will come up..

nuance point you forgot psychologycal aspect. People don't all have aggressive tendancy and controlled aggression . I fought a guy in a road rage 5 inches taller than me and probably 60 pound heavier than me (i know beceause i took him down with a single leg leg sweep). This guy came raging forward at me with the classic rigth overhand out of uncontrolled fear and aggression and he was taken down + he wore a helmet that added to the confusion he experienced

One thing to remember, some lw walk around at 180-190 pound, some bantamweights walk at 160, if the fighter doesn't cut weight it's a whole new game

True but I think the point of this exercise is to assume the fighter will compete at their fight weight. And even if not, Mighty Mouse walks around at most 10 lbs over his fight weight so that’s not a big difference

I think mighty mouse could gas him out quickly and then choke him. The only thing DJ has gotta look out for is bradley throwing himself on the ground while DJ is on his back. But i don't think bradley could even hit DJ, and even if, DJ can definetly get hit. And in a streetfight, DJ could just poke his eyes out or kick him in the balls. And DJ definetly has the aim to do that.

In striking either it would be a Boxing-, Kickboxing- or Muay Thai-Match, the chances of winning against a so much heavier guy are very small. The best chance would be, if the lighter guy would be good at "Out-Boxing", keeping distance, getting fast into punching/kicking range to hit, getting out of reach again. But this would most likely work against a really way slower and immobile heavy guy , who has not only to be slow in footwork, but also in possible "counterpunching". I do not see this in the case of Bradley Martyn, who is already training some punching and would train even more to counterpunch if he would go into training for this fight.

Striking is full of examples of people beating much bigger people. Welter weight thais have beaten elite HW kickboxers due to being so skilled, one even won a HW grand prize in his 30s irc. Of course weight matters and if skill is even in orbit of the smaller guy then the bigger guy has at the very least a decent chance of winning. Sugar Ray Robinson went up several weight classes and almost won the title at the highest he went to and only lost by having to quit due to heat stroke. Ryu Narushima was an elite Kyokushin fighter who fought other high level kyokushin fighters that massively outweighed him at open weight. I've sparred people who are small who have done a year or less of kickboxing who are more dangerous than some 200 plus pound rando. Hell not saying Eddie Hall would not murder the kid given that hes an adult and is ridiculously stronger, larger, more athletic, has maybe even 300lbs on the boy and has trained, but in his recent video with Tom aspinall he found a low kick from a 9 year old that wasn't even wound up painful and he's a 380lb former strong man so the idea that any human on earth no matter how big can't be made to feel serious pain by even tiny humans with certain techniques isn't true. If the kid had a way to stop Hall from squishing him instantly after the first low kick or few and could just kick him for a round or two as hard as he could I'm not sure Hall woukd be able to stay standing which means even a hobbyist or low level amateur competitor with only 80lbs could theoretically deliver enough power to partially cripple a 380lb athlete if he stood there and took it for minutes on end. Head kicks are a huge equaliser as are low kicks if the bigger guy isn't conditioned or acclimatised to them much. If Bradley Martin has any real legit fighting ability its not even mainly about his size and weight. It's about strength, stamina, athletic skill (attained and natural) and how much he can functionalise them which in turn functionalises his otherwise not useless but probably not even very well utilised size and weight advantage, especially given how bloated he is requiring a lot of mitigating factors for him to still move quickly and not gas instantaneously.

Well you see the problem is in grappling you can slam someone, in boxing without proper technique, you wont be able to generate too much power. Good puncher can demolish bigger opponent easily because your head dont have any muscles or fat (just your neck) so no matters how big you're 1 good head hit always do damage. Only thing that mass gives you is ability to generate more power with proper technique due to Simple physics laws but only if you'll be able to generate same punching speed with more mass
