Much respect to Wiggins for his response to Froome’s comments about the Vuelta. He doesn’t bad mouth Froome, gives some explanation about the inside story, and accepts responsibility for his shortcomings - Very classy. Chapeau!

I think this is a comment which has been blown out of hand, I'm pretty sure everyone would think the same way Froome did.
@brianmessemer29735 жыл бұрын
When I heard the Froome Rosberg interview, I read that comment simply as “if Wiggins physically cracks, I have to be right there because I know I can finish strong.” I mean, who in his position wouldn’t think that? But as Sir Bradley says here, there’s always going to be that insecurity in bike racing. About Froome, it’s human nature to interpret your own memories differently later in life. It is much easier to make that comment since he won 4 tours. He’d have never made such a statement without his record of dominance after that time.

he is the weakest tour winner in recent memory, i hate to see guys win the tour when they are not on the top climbers. Dumoulin, Indurian, Evans are way better climbers than brad ever was. i remember watching that tour that year and feeling like he almost stole it and did not deserve to win it.
@ProfessorSteez5 жыл бұрын
Cypriano People like Dumoulin are great climbers now because Sky/Wiggins pushes the competition and training protocol to that level. Dumoulin was a TT specialist until he saw Wiggins can win a GC

Wiggins cost froome that veulta... Wiggins often cracked.. his whole team would've been aware of it. Froome would've won the 2012 tour too, he gifted that to wiggins. Look wiggins was great, but not on froomes level and wiggins was too entitled and stubborn to accept it.

What the hell ever happened to Cobo?
@Whateverworksism5 жыл бұрын
He has been banned for doping (13 June 2019) and his 2011 Vuelta victory has been awarded to Froome. Hell, I remember almost having an uneasy Chris Horner-esque feeling (not saying Horner was doped but I certainly remember asking the question when he won over the age of 40), seeing the completely unknown Cobo go nuts .... but now - almost a decade later - we learn he was doped up.

Do you even understand the story? Froome was riding support in 2012 for Wiggins, he didn’t trust Wiggins to win but he did. Not sure why it matters that Froome won more after the fact?
@twright19835 жыл бұрын
Wiggins was huge favourite on that course 1 prologue and 2 long flat time trials and only 3 summit finishes of which la planche de belles filles was the only really tough one , the route could barely have been better for wiggins Froome would have really struggled to beat him even if he rode for himself on that tour

@@willbick7889 I think Froome has a legitimate point too. Sure, Wiggins won a few small races leading up to that TDF, but never anything big. Froome might have been the stronger of the two in the Tour also. Froome just wasn't given the freedom to ride away by the team
@cipher.u.justice5 жыл бұрын
lol paris-nice, romandie, and dauphine are "a few small races?" name the last person to bag all three in the same year... it's Bradley Wiggins. Had he never won the Tour or any Olympic golds, just doing that would have made a pro cyclists' career. Froome had every chance to win leadership in both TTs, but Wiggins put 1'51 into him.
