You can look into "no poo" routines, basically you use a super light weight silicone free conditioner instead of shampoo. If you have a dirty job you can mix in shampoo 1-2 x a week too to get the icky feelings out. Using hair masks to return moisture can help too.

@Batty_0666Ай бұрын
I'm srry I'm 3 years late LOL but how long do you leave the shampoo on your scalp for? I'm trying to have healthier hair. I do get a bit of dandruff but other than that my scalp, roots and mids are pretty healthy. The main thing I'm trying to work on is the ends of my hair. They are a bit damaged. I have naturally thick coarse hair so my hair already has stiffness to it. By having some damaged parts it's definitely far more noticable feeling wise. To the eye my hair looks completely healthy. I trim my hair once every few months. Used to do once every 6 weeks but that was a terrible idea bc my hair stayed the same length for years. 💀 When I stopped my hair grew so so long. But then I had a mental breakdown last year and cut all my hair off above my shoulders. Now I'm trying my best to grow it out again and I've stopped dying it. Just wanna do everything right this time as my hair grows so I can have hair that is as healthy as possible. Plus I don't even remember what my natural color is. 😢 I've been dying my hair since I was 12. I am now almost 23. Recently I heard someone say that eventually she would forget her own hair color by the time it goes grey bc she dyed it for years. She let her hair grow naturally from black box dye. Then she cut it super short. But I don't wanna keep having super short hair. Thankfully I know a safe way to fade black dye. It'll just take a lot of time. Once my hair is long enough I will start cutting out the old dyed hair. I'm aware that will take a few years though. It's gonna be a long journey for me. 😂
@nailsofinterest23 күн бұрын
@Batty_0666 is it really dandruff or buildup? The people above said 4 minutes...but idk. Product buildup can definitely look like white flaky stuff, and perhaps itch. In that case use a clarifying shampoo to get it super clean (don't use daily) or use a scalp massager Brad uses one(a round plasticthing with sharp lookimg 'teeth' on bottom. It will remove the buildup in one time, if not terribly bad. Head n shoulders has a scalp scrub, (scalp only!) Once in a while.
@elleirenex323 күн бұрын
@@nailsofinterest it's probably both! Dandruff is usually caused by a build up of oils, skin, and yeast (and products if they're used). Dandruff shampoos should be left on for 3-5 minutes as the product needs dwell time to work most effectively. I personally use Nizoral/Ketoconazole shampoo 1-2 times a week. Nizoral is also clarifying! I typically use a small amount to pick up the oils, rinse, and then reapply so it's foamy on my scalp and let it sit. Another perk of shampoos containing Ketoconazole is that it's anti-androgenic and can help with hair growth/loss if used about as often as I do (and hormonal acne-win win). I have a lot less hair that comes out when I shower than I used to. I'm a derm RN so I have a passion that includes flaky scalps lol

For the first girl, she's leaving the shampoo on for 5 minutes so that the benefits that the shampoo offers get into her hair, just like a conditioner, but it's so the argan oil can work it's magic
@mojokg133 жыл бұрын
Hairdresser here. It's actually counter productive, there are many sodium and alcohol based chemicals in this shampoo that the argan oil is almost redundant at this point, to get real conditioning benifits from argan oil its best to invest in cold pressed pure argan oil. Apply to dry hair (length and ends) leave few hours and wash out with a mild shampoo then condition. A few drops can also be used as a leave in treatment before styling.

I just learned about the lawsuit and have been experiencing hair loss. I had changed my diet, taken supplements everything but my hair still fell out like CRAZY. Finally dawned on me, maybe it's my shampoo conditioner. I had just started trying out the OGX stuff (the Renewing one in the blueish bottle) and that one ingredient in the lawsuit is in there. It's called DMDM Hydantoin. It's a preservative that releases formaldehyde over time. Supposedly "safe" levels, but it's formaldehyde AND that ingredient is used in A LOT of conditioners. Not everyone is sensitive/allergic to it, but if you're experiencing hair loss for no reason.. check ingredients on your hair care products! The easiest thing to do is to just change your shampoo and conditioner (and any other products you might use) That ingredient should NOT be used though. Even if some people might not be allergic, formaldehyde can still cause cancer. I switched to different shampoo and conditioner free of that ingredient and haven't had any abnormal hair loss. Just hoping the hair I lost will grow back

basically, if you are not already allergic to formaldehyde, it is NOT going to cause you hair loss, and so far the people with these claims have not been tested for an allergy, so we cannot even attribute their supposed hair loss to this preservative.

Leaving the shampoo in - I was recommended to do this when the shampoo has active ingredients. Massaging it in cleans the hair, letting it sit on your scalp will allow the other ingredients (allegedly) to actually do something on your hair instead of just being washed out. Also, I noticed it can help breaking down the dirt and oils - as in, when I leave the shampoo in my hair is cleaner than if I had just shampooed and rinsed (which makes me need to shampoo a second time). For the cotton towels, they definitely can damage or give you a bad hair day depending on your hair type 😂 cotton towels on my wavy hair mean frizz all week long, and I am not at all aggressive with the towel.

A lot of brands recommend leaving their shampoos in for 5 minutes so I guess there is something to it. Some that I personally have seen recommend this are shampoos that are for damage repair, clarifying shampoos and anti dandruff shampoos (and of course the obvious purple shampoos) and I have never had any problems when doing this

Yup very like every step I was like ehhh I can't really do that, I always have to detangle my hair in the shower literally before shampoo, before conditioner, after I dry it and after I put my creams and hair products which is a lot I can't just simply put oils and that's it, my hair gets super tangled if I don't, whenever I put conditioner on my hair I would put a bunch on my ends and also roots, I never get oily hair in fact my hair is super dry and if I only put conditioner on the ends my hair on the roots are not soft 🙃 I hope he does another video but for curly hair specifically

I used to use OGX too but it's got DMDM hydantoin which is a formaldehyde releaser, its activated by water and found in a lot of beauty products cause it acts as a preserver. OGX had a lawsuit a while back after claiming it contained only organic ingredients when it very much did not, but is now being sued again for scalp irritation and hair loss as a result of the DMDM. Wahoo! After I stopped using OGX and began using Herbal Essences again, my hair started drying WAY faster (it's heavily bleached) and I could comb through it a lot easier, so dropping OGX was super useful for me at least! They do smell good as hell tho huh

I leave my shampoo on for five minutes, regardless of whether it’s purple shampoo or not, because I personally feel it doesn’t get clean enough when it’s a quick wash. Manic panic fades too quick and is way too expensive even for touch ups. Artic fox has great intensity, but too strong on the fragrance. Also expensive and bleeds onto everything even after rinsing for like 20 min. I use adore for this reason. Great price, good fade, not the most conditioning on it's own, but for touch ups (mixed w/ conditioner) I love it.

I disagree with the 1 point off for putting conditioner on your scalp. I have very long hair and I'm now at washing it every 5 days or so. The oil production of my scalp as gone down to pretty much zero in the first 3 days or so so I'm absolutely putting moisturizing, nourishing conditioner or masks on my scalp AND a bit of my facial gel creme right after washing it too.
