Hi everyone, the tribute to my dad is during last 4 mins of this episode (past the normal outro); it's probably my favorite 4 minutes of any video I've uploaded: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haDJm4OZp6ugrbc Also, here's a link to the video I made on the new channel for people to better understand the poker terminology I use and the hand ranges associated with different positions: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKuQnp1rmbGDopo

I loved your tribute to your Dad!! A quick tribute story from me to you about my Dad. The last time I went fishing with him was oh so memorable. We fished a lot together & he taught me how. We went out in my new boat & about 3 or 4 hours "into the session", my Dad hooked a big one. When he got it to the boat it turned out to be about 10 or 11 lb catfish! We were fishing for bass & crappie. I netted the fish & lifted it into the boat on the deck. I went to reach for the fish (you have to be careful w/catfish they have barbs around their mouth that HURT!) & the fish flopped, the hooked came out & poof he fell back into the water. OH SHIT! I apologized over & over & he was tired from the fight on that fish. He said let's go home. Boy was I uncomfortable, to say the least. The next day a friend wanted to go fishing so I took him. As I was leaving, I told my dad I would go back & catch his fish for him just trying to make a funny & lighten the mood. We went and about 2 to 3 hrs in we were gonna try 1 more spot. We were trolling to the next spot when my rod bent like hell and I reeled in what looked like the exact same fish I had lost the day before. I couldn't believe it! I knew right away Dad was never gonna believe me but I had my friend as a witness. I got home with the fish in a big ice chest & told my Dad to look at what we had caught. He ignored it for a while & I finally ask him "aren't you gonna look"? He stood up opened the chest looked for a few seconds & said "where did you buy that"? I laughed and said I caught it. After some discussion, he finally believed me. But I did tell him that I went back & caught it for you but you gotta clean it! He did the next day and boy oh boy did that fish taste good made into catfish steaks! That was our last fishing trip together for he had a stroke just a couple of days later. Those memories of father & son are better than gold IMHO, and I'm pretty sure you agree. I enjoy the VLOG & look forward to the next one. Keep on fishing buddy, the big one is still out there for you sir! All the best, Gandalf 😎

Brad, I actually knew from the second I heard your voice that it was something that devastated you! I am really bummed for your loss but I know you will become a better man in your remaining years. Also, I would really like to grab a beer with you and show you around town when you make it back to Detroit! I recently had a kid and yelled through the house that I was having a night out once I found out you were Coming to Detroit. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it but I’m glad you had such a good experience here. I can assure you the next time you come will be even better. Much love. Man that was KIND OF spewy IMO. It was like 2k more for the UTG player to call to win 7k. There is no way he folds a big flush there. He was likely bluffing or making some awful super thin raise with JJ or something. Brad repped the nut flush really well but he has very few boats in his range as well, and never shoves a medium flush. It made little sense and i think the guy just showboated while folding some trash bluff.
@ericlandis1805
@ericlandis1805 2 жыл бұрын
@@timb4248 I think the best hand he would have folded there was AT, which would make the play genius. But i'd say it's more likely that you're correct. He almost certainly didn't fold better there.

Hey man, breaks my heart to hear about your dad. Brought tears to my eyes hearing his voicemail…. Had to call my damn dad after that and tell him I loved him. Which went over like it does with any dad/son relationship… very awkwardly 😂😂. I hope you the best in your coping and recovery. You were a lucky man to have him be your pops. If you ever get sad about it, just shoot him a text. I did that when my grandfather passed away and it still feels like he’s here.

Brad. I've been watching your videos for awhile now, probably over the past year and a half to two years. In that time, I'm not sure I've seen you, in one session, miss more flops, draws, etc.... You had to grind this session out like I've never seen before. I was waiting to smash like to get you to some big hands but they never came. The few times you did hit (top pair, top kicker,) you never felt comfortable with what you had based on the board run out. This for me was a great example of how to play the game when you aren't hitting the hands, when are somewhat card dead, and yet it really wasn't about the cards in your hand. This was a great video for us poker amateurs to learn from.

Man, that final hand bluff on the river... very cool stuff! I very much appreciated your commentary on your thought process, which was lit! I know I could have never pulled that off, no matter what stakes. Even if the opponent had called and won, it would still have been a masterful bluff from your part! Even better with them folding what looked like a solid hand, of course :-) Not gonna lie, at times in the past I have thought you have moved up the stakes too fast, but seeing your content now and realising you are playing at a much higher skill level than me (which is not a high praise in itself as I struggle with my game), it makes me humble up. Good game! Hope to see a lot of such high quality stuff from you going forward!

I ended up winning $800 on an epic call against a big stack bully who had already gotten me to fold four hands. As soon as I shoved my chips in the middle he declared "you win" meaning he had nothing. It felt so good. One of the other players at the table asked if I play a lot and I said "No, but I do watch a lot of Brad Owen".

May be just me, but seeing the stakes get higher and higher also feels the man himself is getting braver and braver and the cards reward that :). Happy days!!. Great to see the success - with all the same for the future!!
