Hey Brad, I’m nobody but I hope you read this. On another table with the same exact plays, this could have been a huge win, so don’t get too down about it. A couple things I think could be constructive. If you have to fold, don’t worry too much what they have or didn’t have. Sure, take a mental note if they’re bluffing, but if they got one over on ya, well good for them. What I’m saying is it’s expensive to find out for sure. Also, VERY early we could see these guys were playing loose. A lot of the time you get paid off for aggression.. not here. If they’re playing looser than a whorehouse in Bangkok on New Year’s Eve, tighten up that play. Make sure you have the stone cold nuts then make them pay. The cards just aren’t coming your way this time, I know that. Also, change up that play of trying to extract value. You know how they can’t hit sick rivers and turns against you? By making them fold on the flop or turn! If you think you have the best hand at that moment, go near pot size or over pot size sometimes and force the fold. Now they can’t get there. Statistically you should be ahead then if they do call. Anyway, those were my gut reactions watching. Take it or leave it. You got serious balls and I hope KZbin pays you something and get ‘em next time!

It's tough to watch, but that is life of a pro. There will be tough times, there will be good times. Just try to minimize losses in tough times, I think there were several spots where Brad raised / called with very weak holdings, justifying it with the looseness of the table. And when he did get the bluff through, it was because opponent had nothing but gutshot. But there was bad luck as well like full house losing to runner runner better one...

This is why bankroll management is so important, especially when you don't have other sources of income. You simply have to be in a position where you can have these 20-30 buy-in downswings that don't effect your life. Even more important than bankroll management is your psychological management. Poker is a game where you can't force wins, and the more you try to "climb out of the hole" (like you see Brad doing here) the more mistakes you make and the more it will cost you. The final really important factor is table selection. Play at tables you know you can win at and stay away (as much as possible) from competent players and tables full of them.

I feel for you, bro'. Knowing how to process loss is probably as important as winning for a pro, a skill I lack. Thanks for being open and honest with us. I really value hearing your thought processes on each play, although half the time it's too fast and/or subtle for me to follow. I myself never thought things through in that depth when I was a player; relying more on my instincts and really tight play to win. One day I realized how much I hate losing and gave it up.

Like many of the people posting here I completely agree that it’s incredibly refreshing when someone actual posts REAL life and the challenges that we face. WELL done good sir.

Keep it going Brad. Your videos inspire many of us less decent players to strive for better play and helps us to improve our skill.

Respect that you post the down sessions as well as the up. I've been noticing that I too, sometimes get crushed against bad players. When I review my play, I notice that I start playing bad to get in the action against these players, like what you were doing here. If I would stick to folding hands that I would fold against good players, I wouldn't get stuck so much by these bad players.

These episodes show clearly that few people are made to be pro poker player... Rspect Brad for sharing these hard times, keep strong, you're a so good player !

I’ve never commented on a KZbin video in my life.. I love the game of poker and have done for the past 7-8 years and this video is the best one out of thousands I’ve watched. I appreciate your total transparency with your loss. That was tough to watch. I struggle losing $109 tournaments online so I don’t know how you deal with a 45k loss. From one poker Dad to another poker Dad. I hope you’re okay after that and your family is good. I appreciate your content

P.S - My Daughter took over my KZbin hence the username and profile picture. Hahaha

Brad. Thank you so much for making this vlog. I have watched ever vlog you made on youtube. I stumbled onto your channel around EP 180 and had to go back and start with EP 1. It took me about 9 months to catch up to current Ep. Mad respect on showing the real life of a poker player. I know you have success with THE LODGE. Good luck with the family and please keep the vlogs coming. I am one of the older people here and don't have Instagram or any other media platform. Any update on COSMO?

I really enjoyed this session and video, your hand analysis has made me a better player and your resilience over the years of different downswings is a true testament to how strong your mental game is. Also, you've inspired me to start my own poker vlog. All the best to you Brad!

Vlogs like this make me realize on not alone in the brutal bad beats. Take a break and move down a bit in stakes and come back strong and relaxed.
