Brad, loved your reaction to this legend but you need to ALWAYS do John Farnham LIVE versions, not the official videos. This is a good version but there are MANY amazing live versions. He IS the VOICE & his passion on stage is absolutely unbelievable & his interaction with the thousands of fans who know every single word to every single song is incredible! This is a fantastic video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ6VnpJvis6dqdE Also, John's version of The Beatle's "Help" with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is mind blowing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqeYZZqfhLiFgdU

In addition to some of John's other songs already recommended (live is a MUST as others have said), check out a song called "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" by Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham - you will be blown away. Also, the "h" in his surname is silent and us Aussies pronounce it as "farnum".

I have been a fan of John Farnham since his beginning. "Sadie the cleaning lady" and "Rain drops keep falling on my head" are two of his early hits here in Australia. John Farnham is known in Australia as "The Voice". He has been singing for 50+ years. This song was an 80's hit and still is. John also joined an Aussie band called The Little River Band for a while. The two adults in the clip were married. Their names are Jackie Weaver and Derrin Hinch. You would be pressed to find an Aussie who doesn't know this song by heart. Do yourself a favour and give your ears a treat and check out the concert he was part of raising money for the farmers who lost everything when 30% of Australia went up in flames a couple of years ago. You should also check out Tom Jones and John Farnham singing "Its a long why to top if you want to rock and roll" at the Australian Logie awards. John has also teamed up with Jimmy Barnes and Olivia Newton John.

As others have said this is so much louder being played and sung Live. The man truelly is unbelievable. To see just how high his voice can go, check out his cover of Led Zep's song Black Dog during a recorded sound check. It is not often you see someone hit Plant's notes perfectly. And even then he hits them effortlessly.

You need to listen to John singing his version of Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. His voice goes higher than that song and John is called The Voice for a good reason. He is the only singer I know that had number one hits in five consecutive decades. His backup singers and his Musicians are family. If he only wants to tour every 10 years they stop what they are doing and they are there. He always gives them credit for what they do well. He has to be seen live because he is on for 3 hours and he leaves everything he has on the stage. John is now 72 years old. The Pandemic has made sure I will never see him live again. Fun fact. When John was on the TV singing his fit number one song when he was 18. Lisa who became one of his backup singers was pregnant with her daughter and dancing while he was singing. Then John later sang a duet in a concert with Lisa’s daughter. It is the same song my daughter won in a competition singing. Until my daughter sang it I didn’t know it was one of John’s and neither did the Judges. John is funny, kind, always smiling and wonderful. I don’t think he knows just how great he is and was. He can sing any genre of music.

He sings this in the same concert as the Beatles song HELP. One of the Beatles watched this and loved his rendition. He was our King of Pop and has been in the business since his hit in 1967 SADIE THE CLEANING LADY. Anyway if you get the chance, get hold of this song with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. You'll love it. Also, there are some YT videos with him and Olivia Newton John on here too including DARE TO DREAM which they did together at the 2000 Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony.

From 1982 to 1985, John Farnham sang with a little group called the Little River Band. It's a group that's from Australia as well. He left the group in 1986 for a solo career.

As already mentioned this is an Unofficial Aussie Anthem. When see or hear someone being Offensive We Speak Up. I remember a few years back an Openly Racist Politician was running for Office. A News Crew turned up at His house and interviewed Him for National TV. Basically He was Publicly Shamed and He Lost the election. The other song which many Aussies want as Our New National Anthem is The Seekers "I Am Australian". They started in the 60's and they regrouped in the 90's and produced this Major Hit Song. It doesn't matter If your not from Australia, We often adopt Honorary Australians. We don't care about Nationalities We're all Just Aussies. We don't Label People based on there heritage like "African American" etc. For best effect check out Music Video Someone made. But honestly I don't think it Should be The National Anthem because nobody can sing it Our Iconic Original Pocket Rocket Judith Durham. If She wanted to She'd be able to Drown Out Her 3 Male Band Mates. They write their own songs too. Unfortunately Judith's Touring days are over Doctors have told Her She can't travel anymore. She hasn't quit but She'll have to stick to Sydney.

Whatever you do, NEVER listen to John Farnham on a disc. ALWAYS listen and watch him live. Unlike the vast majority of singers, his live performances are spectacularly better than his recordings. Listen and watch his concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Every song is great but none better than this song live and then his final song Help by the Beatles. Welcome to the wonderful world of John Farnham

Sorry but you have to hear this live. He's actually better live. Check out his concert with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra on KZbin. Always listen to John live. Try his version of Help, Burn for You and Just a Touch of Paradise oh and Angels. You won't be disappointed.

John Farnham has a range of A2 to G5. This song is even more incredible live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. John is an outstanding singer and performer. Yes, it's bagpipes. You should hear the sax when he sings " Help".

Welcome to the rabbit hole that is 80s Australian rock. You should react to The Choirboys - Run to Paradise. They are akin to The Outfield from the UK.

This song came out when I was 12yrs old & it changed my life forever for both music & fandom. John Farnham (pronounced Farnem) is Australia's greatest male singer; he is The Voice. He's also extremely respected in the music industry because besides being amazingly talented, he's also incredibly lovely, funny & humble. As others have said, you MUST check out whatever live performance videos you can find, he hits a whole other incredible level in his live shows.

Freddy Mercury called John Farnham the best voice on the planet, and in fact in Australia that's what he is known as: "The Voice." The fact that he is only in the past year or two suddenly being "discovered" in the US (partially because of "reaction channels" such as yours having taken an interest, I think) is indicative of the stranglehold American music moguls have on the industry. It's insane that the American music industry is so insular that a singer of Farnham's calibre is completely unknown in the USA because the local industry movers and shakers made sure he (and other non-American artists) were kept out.

He's better live. Believe it or not. The best vocalist I have ever heard. Even Freddie Mercury said that. React to Help with the Mebourne Symphony Orchestra. You will be blown away.

Name is pronounced with the H silent and the emphasis on the Fa, so it sounds more like Far nem, emphasis 1st syllable. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Johns musical ability and history. Almost every song is better appreciated with the live version as his audience interaction, energy and synergy is fantastic. John has had a hit single in every decade since the 70s. He can sing just about every genre and style also. If you want to see him do a serious soul/gravel vibe checkout his duet with Jimmy Barnes for "When something is wrong with my baby". There is also the concert special he did with Olivia Newton John and Anthony Warlow (Opera singer)

The bagpipes are very Aussie a large portion of Australians are of Scottish heritage. Growing up in my small country town every Sunday you would wake up to the sound of bagpipes blaring around the hills which meant church was starting for the day. Also the national anthem of Australia was written by a Scotsman in the 1800s. 🙂
