Came here because of your cold chisel reaction. The guy playing guitar here is Diesel & well worth checking out what his tonsils are capable of. Diesel & Jimmy are brother in laws, their wives are sisters. Diesel appears on all Jimmy’s solo stuff & it’s a duo made in heaven. Always choose a live performance with Australian music if you want some goosebump performances. 🤙🏽

If you like this you will flip over he and John Farnham doing "when something is wrong with my baby" (live is better) He has so many great songs and with his band Cold Chisel as well. A great place to start as well are the ones below. "lets make it last all night" "lay down your guns" "Khe Sahn" But honestly nearly everything of his is powerful, I feel those songs above will give you the best chance of getting to know Jimmy and his passion. He does alot with John Farnham, same era and both Australian Icons, ironically both were not born in Australia. His live stuff is the best i feel, i have seen him live a few times and he gives you chills, alot like John Farnham he sounds better and more powerful live.

If you want to see him at his highest, watch his live song: When The War Is Over (Ringside Tour). For his most gentle watch: Fire and Rain, with Marcia Hines. Oh and the middle girl in the backup singers is also Jimmy's daughter, singing runs through the entire family. His son also is magic. Sia is also a fantastic song writer and singer, but has severe anxiety issues and is incredibly shy when performing.

Jimmy Barnes is an Australian legend. While he has sung his share of rock, he identifies as a soul singer and oh boy does he have soul!! This isn’t the best showcase of his voice- he filled in for SIA and was also very emotional as this song hits home for Jimmy who beat a very long term addiction to alcohol and drugs. I’d recommend Soothe Me with Sam Moore or Stone Cold. He’s just finished his soul 30 tour, he’s been going strong since the late ‘70s.

Have loved Jimmy since my teens in the 80's. Discovered him, and because of him, discovered Cold Chisel. Legend. I'd add so many collaborations, including his with Tina Turner with the song Simply the Best. I also discovered our Aussie band Stars due to his performance with others at the Andy Durant memorial concert from 1980. He performed with some of his own Cold Chisel band, the remaining Stars band from which Andy was a member before his passing from melanoma. Others there that I know of were Renee Geyer, Richard Clapton and Broderick Smith. Great cover of Bob Dylan's Knocking on Heaven's Door. I must have listened to this collaboration thousands of times now. Fabulous!!!!

Jimmy was the lead singer of the Australian Pub Rock Band Cold Chisel in the 1970’s & 80’s. He would go through a bottle of Vodka on stage. The man can sing. Hope you check out some early stuff. Has an awesome blues album called Soul Deep that’s worth a listen too.

Jimmy Barnes is an Australian legend who fronted Cold Chisel a band many of us consider better than AC/DC. Powerhouse performances Bow River, When The War Is Over and Wild Thing are a must. They broke up in 1983 and Jimmy went on to have a successful solo career still up until now, collaborating with several overseas artists, but l particularly like his performances with Joe Bonamassa on Stone Cold and Walking Up The Road which he sings with his daughter Mahalia Barnes.

If you listen to Jimmy in the early days with Cold Chisel he actually has a very powerful, clean voice. But as he has gone on in his career he has leaned into his rough belt, and that has become his signature sound.

Stone cold with Joe bonemassa or even better if you want an intro to Aussie rock legends with two giants and one top notch vocalist go Somethings wrong with my baby with Jimmy, Farnsey and Diesel probably the release video would be best but the live version is pretty good also. But man you have so much to uncover with Australian music story telling music, soft rock, hard rock, then there is Matt Corby and Guy Sebastian those guys are ridiculous. Then throw in the ladies such as Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy etc. Then skip across the ditch to the Kiwi's with Crowded House which had one of their songs covered by some famous chick's in the USA. Damn man so much to look into and you had to start with this 🤣
