On the Tramp Stamps thing, I think the controversy that Fantano talks about being what they wanted is backlash for their “takes” and “unfiltered attitude” spawning from their music and lyrics. Instead, the only controversy that spawned from them is the industry plant argument and accusations thrown against them, along with the fact that they just plainly suck at music. heres the tramp stamps drama lmao: so basically in i’d rather die the lyrics “i’d rather die than hookup with another straight white guy” got severe backlash on tiktok and they got accused of trying to be relatable to BIPOC when they themselves are straight white women. the song further goes on to imply that they’re upset with men who cant perform well in bed because they’re drunk which is problematic on its own and speaks for itself. theres a shit ton more such as them attempting to be a pop punk band when they know nothing about punk culture/origins and don’t bother to learn about it as well as them basically being exposed as industry plants. izzyzzz made a great video on them if you are interested in learning more about it in detail

That’s basically how a lot of genres get gentrified. Certain audiences will like the “idea” of a genre but find the genre itself to be too ideologically different/scary/challenging so a water-downed, blander version of the genre ends up being made to appeal to these audiences, with none of the original ideological bite. It’s happened to certain types of punk, metal, rap, indie, jazz, blues, soul, country, etc
