Mk4 still the winner in my opinion. You can make it look like that on the interior with no problem at all just have to be willing to spend a little bit more which is what I thought you might end up doing to yours. You could put the hybrid turbo and make the same kinda power if not more and still have the classic look. Golf all the way mate.

Always liked the Polo's over the years & had a mate who had a lil G40 one back in the day,which was a scream!!! 😁 Don't think I've ever told anybody that i very nearly bought a 2015 model,before my old Ed35,but £16,000 on a Polo seemed ridiculous! 🤣

Always loved the 9N3 Polo GTI cos its basically a mini MK5 GTI..and they still hold their looks/performance & value some 11yrs on..amazing....

A work mate of mine had same age polo gti with 300hp the thing was a monster, but he now has an anniversary mk4 with air ride and tbh id rather have the size of the golf unless its a second car ill have a 3 door polo and the golf

My question is does the polo handle, turn, corner better than the Golf ( I have heard countless people complaining about MK4 GTI) Which should I get - VW Polo GTI (9n3) or Seat Ibiza 3 FR (handling wise)

Love the polo’s but I cannot stand the interior in these 9n3’s and that’s what put me off. But I got the MK1 Octavia vRS instead of a golf as I prefer the look and wanted the practicability. Just waiting for the standard clutch to give up and I can add all my parts for a stage two that just sit in the garage feeling lonely...

No - the 9n3 which ran till 2009 is the 1.8Turbo (150ps standard), then 2010-2013 you had the 6r Polo GTI with the 1.4TSI with 180ps (the not so reliable on as you mentioned) DSG semi-auto only gearbox, then the 6c from 2014-2017 with the 1.8TSI 192ps engine with manual or DSG options. Then the current launched 2018 Polo GTI with 200ps again sadly DSG only gearbox option.

@@mjmechanicjuncky7014 no its not - the only 1.4TSI Polo was the 2010-2013 180ps 6r. 6c 2013-2017 Polo GTI was the 192ps 1.8TSI. Now the new one a 2.0TSI 200ps engine. The 9n3 Polo GTI featured was the 1.8Turbo unit first introduced/dates back to when the MK4 Golf GTI/B5 Passat 1.8Turbo arrived.

Just buy a mk4 ibiza fr/cupra way cheaper than the polo and better styling (post facelift anyway) plus everyone thinks it's a dirty diesel until you rip passed them, although I'm biased 😂

Depending on what you want. Golf is a better car all round....but if it's speed...the polo is lighter...that's it, that's the only thing it has to offer over the golf. Light.
