I fully agree, and Lupu is maybe the best performer of Brahm's piano works. I am keenly receptive to opus 119. Such delicacy, such subtlety, such sense of poetry !

Lupu continues to be my favorite interpretation of the epic Rhapsody that concludes this set.

Few, if any, pianists played Brahms as well as Radu Lupu. A remarkable combination of power and poetry.

I agree. Also on Schumann, for some pieces he is still the best. For Brahms, sometimes I find Lupu even better than Katchen. If you never did, I also suggest you to listen to Zukhov’s rendition of Brahms 2nd concerto!
