Recipe Tips & Tricks:
✔ If using a darker pan, reduce temperature 25F (4C) and bake an additional 5 - 10 minutes to prevent over browning.
✔ Margarine, shortening, vegetable oil spread and lard can all be used in place of the softened butter. Use equal amounts.
✔ Fresh baked bread should ideally be eaten or frozen on the first day as it will go stale quickly. These will last up to 3 days in an airtight container.
✔ The sugar can be reduced to 1 tbs (12.5g) but we do recommend keeping in a little to aid in browning and to keep the dough soft and pliable.
✔ Up to 1 tsp (5g) of salt can be added for flavor. Start out with the recipe as we have made it an adjust from there.
✔ Do not over bake or the sugar will become bitter. Bake until the center reaches 190°F (88°C) for best results.
✔ If the dough is too sticky for you to work after kneading for 5 minutes, add one tablespoon of flour (9g) at a time and knead several minutes before adding more.
