I had a baby 13 months ago... I love our family... I adore my beautiful son... but my marriage is not what it was... I spent months having a body that wasn’t mine. Carrying another, becoming a mother. Being treated as a vessel to be prodded and poked by nurses and doctors alike.. after a 31 hour labour they decided to cut him out of me... it was safer. Then came the feeding every 3 hours, always holding my son. He needed me. I loved it. I loved becoming his mother. I live for him and to give him everything he wants and needs. But I’ve forgotten intimacy, how to be a wife and partner. Intimacy is scary, and I shy away from it. I love my husband but at the same time it’s not the same. I suppose there must be multiple reasons why but I can’t pin them all down. This track, not just the lyrics but it’s slow build, it’s atmosphere, it’s enveloping wave of dynamic swell... it encapsulates perfectly how I feel even though I can’t describe it in words. Not to mention that I’m lying next to my husband in bed, in a dimly lit room not unlike this couple here... this band has been my souls match since I stumbled upon native speaker not long after it was released... they are somewhat even more relevant now.
