I've just watched this video twice now and as weird as it sounds, I needed to hear a lot of the stuff you told your 16 year old self in this video. You have an amazing way with words and I want to thank you for sharing this part of yourself with us. I made my own "Dear Me" video. Watching yours made me even more proud of everything I told my 13 year old self. And I loved the little behind the scenes clip you showed at the end of this video.

As a 24 almost 25 year old this was much needed this morning. I was talking to a friend last night about how they ( not sure who they are but) tell you in your 20's you need to build a base, know where you are going, start a family.... make a life... but then they also say you need to travel in your 20's experience life, make mistakes so your 30's can run smoothly as you have learned from your past. How the heck am I suppose to do all of that, build a base and make mistakes, get a career and live to the fullest, there doesn't seem enough time. watching this it made me think " actually screw them, i'll live how I want to live and stop comparing my life and progress to others in my age group" Love your videos :) x

Hey Callie!! I have decided to just go for it!! I managed to get a decent role in the first ever Maltese soap opera, that should get me SOME exposure! In the meantime I got chosen to sing in a festival outside my borders :) so I'm going to Sicily for a few days JUST to sing!! Currently juggling school-full-time, work-full-time, singing, acting, youtube, writing .....it is hard work....but HEY I have to work as hard as I can to achieve my goals.....I am saving up as much as I can so when I have enough money I can go to England and maybe start my career from there.....but I still have much to wait to jump waters! You ARE a role model Callie, don't forget that, at least you are to me!

Loved this video!! It's so artistic and honest. I could really relate to the part about making music. Music has always been my dream. I just finished my Master's degree and am working to become a teacher and the question everyone asks me is "What are you gonna do when you're done?" My first thought always is music, but I give the usual talk about finding a job and moving on with life. I think the reason I don't go after that dream is because I'm a bit afraid of the uncertainty that comes with it. Wow!! I got a little honest with this comment. 😃 Anyway, keep it up. Your music is so inspiring because it feels so honest.

Interesting combination of words and images. Thanks again for sharing your deepest thoughts. What is interesting about wishing we didn't make the mistakes we've made is that our opinions are formed by ALL of our life experiences. If our younger self followed our advice would that younger self grow to have differing opinions than we have now? Say you did stand up and confront your YW leader would that have empowered you to start a very rebellious chain reaction? Would your younger more naive self confuse that empowering feeling and decide to make more damaging choices?
@CallieCrofts10 жыл бұрын
FunAwesome! Indeed! If I literally had a time portal suddenly open up to my teenage self, I wouldn't go near it for fear of screwing up the wonderful life that I am now in. This was a really fun hypothetical conversation though, and a pretty therapeutic chance to reflect.

***** I have the same belief in changing the past .Tho I have made mistakes and have a few regrets I would faer that in attempting to fix or avoid the things of the past I would destroy the life I have had which has been a pretty good one over all. I would not like to have lost those things that shaped me in to what I am today even if some of them are bitter memories or shameful mistakes on my part. I wouldn't mind manipulating the time stream a bit to have some more money, tho. What were last weeks winning lottery numbers, again?

This I now know. Everything I've done, or not done, put me here now. I love where I am, so it all worked out. My only regret... having not been a good person to everyone I met. For that, I forgive, and will always ask to be forgiven.

I don't often find myself so impacted by a strangers story, yet I feel an uncomfortable connection to the deeply personal events you have shared with your viewers. As a man, my experiences growing up were different yet all too similar. Whew, you stirred up some things I have not thought about in a very long time. I think most churches have a person whose job is to tell the kids how bad they are, or how bad they're going to be. Such mental damage...ah well. - I guess I'm late to this video but I wanted to say that your intelligent creativity is highly appreciated by your audience. Looking forward to future projects!

... and one more thing (yeah right). This is what I remember of that wondrous time of life called Puberty. I can only speak from my own experience, as my study of anatomy and physiology taught me... the "Great Hormonal Flood" affects each of us differently. My female counterparts could have dressed in flannel long johns, heavy work boots, an ankle length high neck dress of burlap, and shaved their heads. It would have made no difference to my fevered brain. I understand "modesty." Back in the day, if a girl allowed her bra strap to show, it was a scandal (not exaggerating). The only place we saw "anything" was at the beach or the pool. To this day, the aroma of tanning lotion brings back fond memories. The "Modesty Pendulum" has swung far in the other direction, I don't think it's all been for the better. Freedom is what it is, I prefer it over the alternative.

Had a picture in my mind of you in church telling off those narrow minded folks. I was close by clapping loudly.
@TimothyWallace195310 жыл бұрын
The Stand ANONYMOUS I have a question ANONYMOUS, and I promise it's genuine. I'm not trying to be contrary. Why is "Traditional" narrow-minded, and "Nontraditional" open-minded? Isn't "Traditional" dependent on your personal experiences? At what point does what you embrace become your "Traditional," as opposed to "Nontraditional" to someone else? Is something "older" automatically inferior to something "newer?" What if the "newer" to you is "older" to me?
@MikeHarrison326610 жыл бұрын
Timothy Wallace Hi Tim, I do not see how traditional could be narrow minded as a condition. It may be suggested that some traditions that appear to disable thought could be narrow minded, for example doing something one way because of tradition although there is a better way that is not considered may be narrow minded. I feel this is a case by case situation. Is tradition a personal thing at all or would that just be habit?. I am in the habit of doing it this way. New is certainly not better by default, and older can be without doubt superior.
@TimothyWallace195310 жыл бұрын
The Stand ANONYMOUS to love and forgive those who hate and do you harm is still "Nontraditional," even to most who profess to believe it. That, to me, is the greatest of human struggles.

OK... here goes... If grownups hadn't been involved, I would have gotten married at 17 (she was 16). The "Now" me can clearly understand that would have been a BIG MISTAKE! I still know her, and we are not compatible. However... you could have put a gun to my head then, and told me you would pull the trigger if I got married. I would have got married.
@TimothyWallace195310 жыл бұрын
S-E-X!!! (BLUSH) Oh, I'm no longer embarrassed by the subject, I'm embarrassed by my 16-year-old me. Yes... I "DID IT" then, I did not abstain. Looking back, I have no idea how I had a clue of what to do. I'm not talking techniques, I'm talking basics. I was 14, and didn't know anything about female anatomy and physiology. She was 16, at least she knew where it all fit. I remember every detail to this day.
@TimothyWallace195310 жыл бұрын
DO NOT get your sex education from magazines, especially Playboy. This I was told by a ninth grader in the boys locker room, I was a seventh grader. I believed every word, I mean... he was a ninth grader. If a girl swallows an aspirin with 7-Up just before sex, she can't get pregnant. It had to be 7-Up, and had to be right before, not after.
@TimothyWallace195310 жыл бұрын
What do I now know? First, the 7-Up deal isn't true. The secret to great sex is ... LOVE! That's the "one thing" Curly was talking about, being in love FIRST! I'm Catholic (I sinned all over the place) so what do I recommend. Fall in love... be SURE it isn't more lust than love. Get to know each other FIRST. Be absolutely sure the love is eternal (I told you I was Catholic). Get married in Church, it has nothing to do with "government." Learn SEX together. My wife and I were medically trained, so the anatomy and physiology was good to go. Everyone is different. There is no "one size fits all" in sex. Now you can read the sex books, but not Playboy.
