Abigail being the unaliver makes sense. Though it's not super satisfying, looking back, she was the most jaded of them all. When Greer confesses to her past, this becomes more clear given even she is capable of some humanity. Throughout, Abigail cared about the most trivial things. The painting being a fake, the optics and suggesting Greer needed pr instead of suggesting a lawyer. The money being the reason makes the most sense for her. The writing provides thematic continuity.

It started strong, carried strong, I even guessed the killer by episode 2, the only gripes I have is that we didn't get a big breakdown at the end and that the main character, despite being the main character, felt somewhat disjointed from the story, almost as if she could be removed completely and we'd miss absolutely nothing. Other than that, the suspects were compelling and the comedy was pretty good! The foreshadowing and plot twists gave it a few more points, a solid 8/10 for me! Edit: After much time and consideration, I've decided to dock the ranking to a 6/10. There were a lot of aspects that didn't make sense: -The Turkish Mafia plotline being COMPLETELY irrelevant -The detectives having a seeming personal responsibility to solve the case which never gets addressed -Amelia isn't the most likable main character -Shooter's side plot added nothing to the story whatsoever -Amelias parents weren't even considered as suspects Etc.

The title of that last episode "That feels better" explained it all. 1. It refers to Greer's confessions (the existence of her brother, her past life as an escort, her failed marriage that she's trying so hard to fake, ETC). She freed herself from that perfect life in appearance. 2. It "feels better" to come clean and not play a role anymore : Everybody at that point revealed their true nature. Amelia calling Shooter to admit she's lost in her life and needs to be that Train-B-girl back. Benji admitting that he knew it was a bad idea to propose in the first place. ETC. Everybody except... Abby. She'll stay in her detached and untroubled character til the end of the show. And Greer sees through Abby's unbothered personna right before she gets arrested because she recognizes her old-self in Abby. Playing it cool amid chaos (like during that family meal scene) when she should feel concern. For nearly 30 years, Greer had tried to hold it together and protect everybody's image including hers. The men in her life had been everything but competent and she carried them all. Abby saw that her husband was a burden and a deadbeat with all the cheating and his drug problems. And she wanted NONE of Greer's life for herself nor her baby. So she had to get rid of him... by framing him for Merritt's murder (cause of course Merritt's baby would delay the trust and that was a problem too). She had to take matters into her own hands and "get the job done" as she says before kil*ing M. As mentionned in this KZbin video, Isabelle says that women don't k*ll for money but for power and position. Abby wanted both. I liked that Greer understood it by just looking at Abby insignificantly sunbathing and faking some sort of composure.

Spoilers ahead // I never doubted that Greer was the one who engineered the whole thing by framing someone else for the murder. Greer even lets us know of her motive by admiting to Amelia at the end that she was jealous. We are led to assume that she means of Amelia's relationship with Benji, but in restrospect, there was so much more that she was jealous of: Amelia's "stealing" her son away from her, Merritt's influence over her husband (threatening their status as the perfect couple) but most of all the close bond that Amelia and Merritt shared together. Greer could not stand the spotlight being taken away from her for even one second. Her mind was set on eliminating her competition (ie the women in her husband's and sons' lives). The only women she tolerated were the ones who helped the men when Greer couldn't. They were useful to her and not a threat: Gosia as the help, Isabel as a money lender with no expectation, and more recently the detective's daughter, as a way to ensure that the local police would continue to be under the family's influence. We saw how Greer tried to get the male detective to like her throughout the series, and for a while there at the bar, we are made to feel like they have this mutual attraction. Can he actually be objective? Hint: nope. At the end of the show, all the men in Greer's life are essentially back where she wants them, and her status as the head of the household is undisputed. Greer managed to make it so that no money ends up in the hands of anyone not related to her by blood (something we are told by Shooter's father is important to rich people). Even Shooter himself will no longer be welcome in the family after he ruined his relationship with Benji, strengthening Greer's status as the glue that holds everything together. Greer will most likely continue to say that Shooter is like a son to her, most of all because he can definitely help with money. Oh, and is easy on the eyes too lol. The only time the status quo is slightly at risk is when Tag lets out that he's upset that Greer tried to frame him for her crime. Her husband would know best about her intentions surely. The pace of Greer' character development at the end was so rushed it had to be fake (no one goes from being this controlling to admitting to their dark past publicly thereby making themselves vulnerable as fast as she did and stays credible). That story with the mafia-type hitman being her brother? Please. The way detectives and Greer's family and colleagues were so quick to believe that the two were related, it was a bit ridiculous. Her admission was just a distraction, and it worked. And how pregnant Abby could just physically overpower Merritt as if it were nothing? Didn't buy it either. Police was so ready to arrest her, even though she was the least likely suspect. To be fair, everyone in that house had motives to get rid of Merrittn including Abby, but that montage at the end where we see her pushing Merritt down seemed far-fetched, whereas Greer gives off this creepy vibe the whole time. About that glass Abby was cleaning: could it simply be that she was worried that her fingerprints might give away the fact that she was among the last people to see Merritt alive when they had a drink on the beach? Or was Abby embarrassed that she had a drink while pregnant (that girl sure looked like she missed her drink) and tried to get rid of the evidence? Hint: it sure could. The end reveal felt fake anyways, but that's probably because it was. Greer came out unscathed and wanted to let Amelia know about it at the end, which is why it seemed important to her that Amelia read her manuscript. What's the point in winning if no one knows about it right? Typical psychopath bs.

The show should have been only a muder mystery, compact and effective, This felt like two different Shows. The whole perfect couple narrative is a waste and that poorly written shooter character. They just hire some ethnic actor to keep the diversity quota or fool audience that the serie has their favorite actor working with THE NICOLE KIDMAN but actually the actor has 2 mins of screen time.

I liked all the episodes except the last one. It was too comedic and everything got solved last minute. I felt like the other episodes didn't mean a thing and when the mother (Greer) revealed everything about her life, everyone was like "ok fine". Everything got weird in the last episode, it's too comedic, trivial and inconsequential.

Everything got ruined with those last episodes. I kept wondering if this is the show I had been watching the last couple of days. Turned into a soap opera plot.

Though there are clues that suggest the Abigail outcome reads as consistent, it still feels as though there were outcomes written for each character, almost as if anyone of them could have done it. It sort of diminishes the intentionality of the writing. Sort of feels like cheating

It was something to watch. Abby says that the baby better be a girl when arguing with Tom. That makes complete sense after hearing about the trust fund. I just think her motive could have been written better. She was sort of obvious imo. I like a lot of the actors and I liked the comedic aspects but I thought the last two episodes were dull. Also, I love Nicole Kidman and can excuse her wig and fake accent but the people playing Benji and Amelia were fighting through their accents to sound American and it was annoying.

I was quite disappointed with this series. There were some good moments.. But overall, it was sooo trying hard!!! Everyone & Everything about it. If you’ve seen any of Harlan Coben’s series on Netflix, then you’ll realize how big a disappointment this series is. Harlan Coben’s mystery/suspense/thrillers would blow this series out of the water.
