Fun Fact: If you don't pick Coco & just stand next to her as Crash, they will do the gem dance together after a few idle animations. Even Coco will react to some of Crash's idle animations by laughing. Such as the one where Crash throws a wumpa fruit high to the sky, & after thinking it won't fall, it splashes over his head & Coco laughs.

Wrath of Cortex is still a decent non-naughtydog Crash game that at least kept the spirit of the originals alive one last time for the next gen systems at the time. That game had no backtracking or repeated theme levels. Each level even had an unique soundtrack too.

Sane Trilogy is coming to the Switch and WoFF and FFXV are getting/have gotten PC releases, my reasons for getting a PS4 have dwindled down to just for The Last of Us 2 and Dissidia NT. My problem with Crash 3 is that the time relics can be a pain to get. Some of them are fairly easy while others are extremely frustrating. & it gets harder when you want to get Gold or Platinum. That reason alone is why I tend to think Crash 2 is the better game in terms of overall experience while Crash 3 is better mechanically (minus the controls of the vehicle levels)

Regarding grass, it would be a waste to move it base on touch. Most devs don't even do this. That would be an extremely wasteful this to add into the game. The grass looks good because the programmers and artist know what their doing not because they restricting the player from interacting with it.
