Too much hp and a lot of weight = tons of carnage.
Whenever someone tells you their trans can handle x amount of hp, ask yourself why they rate it that way. Big hp numbers don't kill your trans. Its one component of the factors. Hp is just a rating of work done. The real three killers are torque weight and traction. Lots of torque, add some weight, and then finally some traction.....something has to give.... then boom it does! Happened to me here. Remember hp is just torque x rpm / 5250.
My trans in this video blow up because of too much hp, it failed because too much torque fractured the flexplate and then wiped out my trans. A stock 4l80 for example could handle 1000 hp all day long with no mods if the car is light and not a lot of traction. Tires will blow off and save the trans. Trans can live all day with low traction. So now we add traction, if the car is still light, its just gonna fly, trans my still well live happily for a long time, add a bunch of weight with traction, well you have another story, my story.
