I was dating my then boyfriend for 4 years until I picked up knitting. He has since been knitted 3 sweaters, too many hats, and scarves and is now my husband. 🤣 so i am very thankful the sweater curse didn’t get us.

the thumbnail was absolutely hilarious 😂! I keep trying to knit my partner things- I always want to knit duplicates of my clothing so that we can match. But like you said, differing fashion sense makes this a little more difficult 😅

I’ve knit 4 pullovers for my husband. First was a fisherman’s rib in a wool/alpaca mix that he wore to death - literally it had holes and got baggy but weirdly, short. But we both loved the colour so I painstakingly unpicked it - it was knit in pieces with nasty backstitched seams . But somehow I harvested enough yarn and reknit it to the Dustlands sweater by Stephen West and it turned out great, he wears it a lot. His other favourite was a superwash DK sweater I made from the Strange Brew pattern with a colourwork yoke which I made up , that was fun and he reaches for it all the time. The other is Northlands by Petite Knit which I made from a lovely farm yarn but it turned out too small, my gauge must have been tighter than my swatch. I’d love to knit him a big oversized cardigan like the Dude cardigan but he swears he won’t wear a cardigan and doesn’t like light colours so not sure what next one will be. Maybe Ingrid in a charcoal. Good luck! I recommend Stephen West jumpers for guys.

Regarding the patterns you brought up: No to the PetiteKnit zipper sweater, I think it's too plain for what you want. Yes to the Wider by Inyoung Kim - I think you could do in a different colour for him and I would also just use a worsted weight yarn. It's plain enough to be a basic with a flare. The Wānaka Sweater and the Richie are both nice henleys! I think they're both quite classic looking. You can always add a textual panel if you want the fabric to be not just plain. Sandnes Garn has a couple of quarter zip sweaters - if you need help sourcing, I can help :3 Brooklyn Tweed has some nice mens designs too.

i've knitted socks and mitts for my boyfriend to great success, and i'm currently knitting his first sweater. i say first because it's going super well, he picked the yarn AND the pattern and i only have 1 sleeve left :)

Once I’m out of the throws of grad school I’ll knit my boyfriend a sweater. I thinking of the Winona pullover by ‘Em Knits, it should be oversized enough for him but also adding some colorwork will make it so much less boring

Taking on the sweater curse this year! Although, I've picked a cardigan and it's a size 2XL... so if I break up with him in the meantime it might just be so I don't have to finish it 🤔🙈

I’m knitting the sammensat by Elsebeth Judith for my mom, and the zipper sweater by petite knits for my partner! I have only made my mom random scarfs and such, nothing nice in the past. I made my partner a terrible crochet hat a couple years ago (I think it was like a square that I then cinched at the top???) but he LOVES it and wears it all the time so he’s definitely knit worthy!

Rowan Cotton Wool yarn is worsted weight, has no plastic(poly/nylon/acrylic) and it is very nice

my hubs is being dragged into my vest obsession right now. I have two planned, I'm just waiting for a bit more yarn to come in. I've attempted to make him sweaters in the past, but I've always lost steam. I will say, Jared Flood's new Typewriter sweater has me in a chokehold. If I were to make us matching sweaters, that one would be the ticket.... for mega oversized goodness, Aegyoknit's Bawi sweater comes to mind.

I knit my husband a Lanark by Rebecca Clow. He loves it. And still loves me, so phew. Also a pair of Sunday socks that he wears the heck out of. He says they are the comfiest, toastiest socks in the world 🤗

Knit a Lento and a Gib for my husband. He likes the width of the Lento for casual wear and the Gib for looking a little nicer. FWIW, I like the Gib so much that I’m making one for myself this winter.

I'm a really big fan of the Elbbrücken Pullover by Andreas Ruthemann for men but don't have a man to knit for😅 It's mostly stockinette but has some interesting structure at the shoulders, plus it's at an aran gauge. Would love to see it get some more love (so that more people put their notes into Ravelry 😋)!

I knitted my husband (then boyfriend) a colourwork cowl (Escher treefold I think) and I'm currently finishing a cable jumper (the Saven) and we're still together. I'm really slow though, the jumper has been years in the making and I'm hoping to give it to him for this Christmas.

I sewed a fancy costume shirt for a long-time partner, and this happened. I started a shirt for my fiancé and now my husband of many years I have not completed it. I can't get past the feeling something will happen. I did knit, sew, and crochet him a hat that he doesn't really wear.

This is the first time I will be knitting my boyfriend a sweater, he’s been begging me for 2 years now lol. I decided to knit the zipper man by petit knit but with a few alterations by keeping it full zip and 1x1 rib based on some inspo knits he has sent me

I’m knitting gift knits exclusively from stash this year for the first time - emotional support chicken, a bag, Sophie scarf, and some fish lol. My husband doesn’t like the texture of hand knit items (???), but let me knit him a scarf last year. I think he’ll be the only one I don’t knit for this year.
