Fab. Thank you for the recipe - it might be extremely simple but it serves as a reminder as to how easy it is to cook this underused vegetable.

Good grief, I love leeks. Think they are one of the most underrated vegetables next to shallots and rutabaga. Never braised them; this looks gorgeous, Chef! I have got to make this for Mrs Rivet, next time I grill steaks. What do you think about adding shroomers (porcini's?) to the leftover liquid to make a gravy with? The parmesan was a nice touch. Wow.....all of a suddden I want to make a leek lasagne :)

I like these with pot roast and celery and carrots too. I think the mushroom gravy sounds great. Thanks for watching and have a great week with Mrs. Rivet!

*Chef Jim - Great Video - Nice camera work and editing!!!! ... Just a FYI - I thought a braise was a slow cook in a COVERED pot - Isnt this more of something called Boiled Leaks?*

Jim, a braise is frying the food before adding liquid, covering it, and then a allowing to simmer in the liquid until tender. I like to add an additional step of deglazing with the liquid in the pan to add another layer of flavor, but I didn't really capture that in this video. I appreciate the comments, great question. Have a great week and thanks for watching.

Chef in desperate need with another one of your fantastic soup recipes or omelette recipes on you're future projects. I need some hardy food here as I think it will never stop snowing and I need energy to. Shovel. Have removed snow from roof five times so far this winter. Had five feet thick snow load.on roof. Seriously I don't need curtains for my bed room window as view is blocked by huge snow bank. Multiple roof collapses over last month. You would not believe it . Is it the same in your neck of the woods. Again a few hearty recipes that are easy to make please. Cheers from Canada. Province of Quebec.

@@cjwworld It's a type of onion, basically, though milder. They can grow to a height of two feet and are still a favored vegetable in Egypt and Palestine. They're usually served as a side dish, like Chef mentions, though they are also used as a seasoning, like onions.

I would be happy to finally get away from Mt. Sinai and finally cross the Jordan river, so I am thinking that having a little meat would appease the rabble. But I am more of a book of Habakkuk kind of guy
