I have really enjoyed watching all your videos, several times over!! I have always wanted a Toyota MR2 Mk1 since the first time I saw one when a friend pulled up at a party in it in 1985, 35 years ago! Since then, life, house, kids, DIY have got in the way!!! BUT on Saturday I pick up my 1986 Mk1 BRAND NEW, old, NEW, old, NEW, old MR2, get in!! I must say I am quite an amateur under the bonnet, but I’m willing to learn, with your videos I feel I can do the small jobs needed to get the car back into tip top condition. I may need your help in the future when it’s all in pieces, LOL!! Love the first time start, spider! and MOT vids, still make me laugh now!! Keep up the great explanation on tasks, very enjoyable. Excited!

Thanks for your comments. Glad it’s given you the push to get one. I’ve still got a few videos left to do. Stick at it, they are great fun cars! Very rewarding.

@@Resto.Nation Just a quick question, is there anything which would tell me the cam belt would be going? As I have to drive the car quite away back home. Maybe sound, touch, see etc.? any advice would be good? The car has 53000 miles, in working order but hasn't been driven for some time. Cheers!

The engine is non interference so if it snaps then it won’t do any damage. I haven’t done mine yet...

Resto Nation So the big day has come! Getting the brand new (old) MR2 Mk1 home from Eastbourne to Bromley, all went well, just a slight blowing noise from the exhaust plus smell and sound, can be sorted. Engine in good condition just a few tweaks to make, I will check everything tomorrow. Above all loved the drive home, put a very big smile on my face!! 😀😀😀😀

Hi Guy S question if I may If the fluid has not been changed can ot make it harder to change gears?
@Resto.Nation2 жыл бұрын
To a certain degree yes. If the clutch fluid is very old. Get it changed for sure. I’ve also done a video on greasing the gear linkage too so that might help. I think it was in the snagging video after the first test drive. Good luck.

Hi James, hope you're well, quick question, I'm just about to buy some brake fluid you mention in the video Dot 4 and not Dot 3 what is the difference? I take it you use the same fluid in both brake and clutch? (New to this!). The MR2 is coming along nicely! Will be doing the sticker set soon. H

Howard, great question. 3 and 4 are compatible but 4 has a higher boiling point so would be the preference. Just don’t mix with dot 5!
@Resto.Nation3 жыл бұрын
And yes, clutch and brake the same

@@howardbetts1511 I’m tempted but need to sort garages first. No garage = no project cars
