Brake Light Fix!! 1999 - 2001 GMC Savanna / Chevy Express , How To Step by Step, Cost Efficient!

This method also works with the Chevy Express van of the same year model. While this method is a bit ghetto or scrappy, it certainly gets the job done in an effective and time/money efficient manner.

Yeah this is right. The monsoons came. Noticed it. Thought i fixed it and rained again. And got pulled over. I told the cop i could fix it right now. He said i couldn't work on my vehicle on the side of the road and gave me a ticket. Yeah going to court.

poor design by GM and Chevy. instead of melting away plastic with solder iron, I drilled a couple of holes and cut away plastic with side cutters. just be careful not to over drill and mess up metal connector inside. cleaned and fluxed and tinned connectors, then put wire back in hole and did the final soldering. sealed it up with silicone. I don't know how long I was driving around without proper brake lights. top center was working, but that's all. a truck driver stopped behind me at a red light,came up to me and told me no brake lights. Saved me from a possible rear- ender. Thanks Mr. Truck driver. works fine now. Thanks Dave O

Oh yea, they definitely didn't design this one well, definitely seems to be a common problem with this model year. Thanks for the alternative method!

My 97 Express did the same thing. i got replacement wiring harness with sockets, for both sides on ebay. cost 25 bucks total with shipping.

I used a dremmel tool to access connection on the bulb socket side it's a blade so i cut off the old connector from the wire and replaced it with a female blade connector then used hot glue to seal and keep the connection in place and waterproof .... that way there isn't any waiting for whatever to dry. But thanks this video saved so much time,aggravation,and money !!! Thanks brother GREAT VIDEO
