My 99 Chevy Express had the same problem. I fixed it with the new tail light harnesses (Dorman part# 923-017). It solved the problem for 45$ in 60 minutes. Thx for the video!!!

I want to say, this video saved me hours of headache pointin me to try replacing these terminals as my first effort in fixing the exact symptoms my van was having, NO BRAKE LIGHTS! I ordered two Dorman replacements Amazon Prime, 2 days later I swapped them out..and BAM all lights working again, under $40 , my van is a 2002 1500 express 6cyl, the part was 923-015 tail light harness GM, thank you thank you. I first thought it was something wrong with a trailer hitch installed before I purchased it...This is a pretty important repair, no brake lights ....not good! again Thanks for posting this...

Where did you get the harness

...I ordered new sockets.. 37 bucks each and next day shipping.. 95 total.. hoping I don't need new harness.. does the harness come with sockets?.. if it's the harness at least I have new sockets now, too.. or will I end up with 4 new sockets if I need a harness.. ?
@Pyro170593 жыл бұрын
In my case, it WAS the sockets themselves that were bad. With that being said, I had purchased the dorman assembly which is the harness and all the sockets pre wired so it was just a matter of twisting in the new sockets and plugging it in. Sounds like you'll either have some soldering or some crimping to do but sockets alone will MOST LIKELY fix your issue.

I have this problem. Where is the best source for break harness
@Pyro170592 жыл бұрын
Take your pick...it's made by Dorman so anybody who handles Dorman products should sell it. Local parts stores,maybe Amazon, rockauto etc...

Does your van have a plate with the harness built in

You mean like the circuit board style? Where the bulbs plug into a board rather than individual sockets? If so, no.
@ashadedreflection44864 жыл бұрын
so just replace the harness?

Now that its in production, yes.

Does anyone have a suggestion if it's the same problem but lights are LED, hence no sockets? It's a 2007 GMC Sierra
@Pyro170593 жыл бұрын
Same EXACT problem? And are you saying ALL the rear lights are LED or just the 3rd brake light?

Replaced both wiring harnesses. Now, I have no tail lights, no brake lights (except for the third brake light.

It's possible you have other issues as well. What was the original issue?

@@Pyro17059 Original: When lights are on, no brake lights. When lights are not on (daytime) brake lights work fine.

I wonder if a single filament (incorrect bulb) would cause that symptom? @@skymiller530
@richardlavelle4521 Жыл бұрын
@@skymiller530 same issue here in my 00’. It’s came down to same issue you have. Daytime no problem. Nighttime I have running lights in back but no tails but my third brake light stays on. Last week I had brake lights at night but the running lights would dim while hitting the pedal. I cleaned the sockets, added dielectric grease and cleaned all my grounds inside van at rear now this. Did you ever get it figured out? Thank you
@skymiller530 Жыл бұрын
@@richardlavelle4521 Yes I finally have everything working correctly. But I am terribly sorry to say that I shelled out $100. for someone else to deal with it, and they fixed it rather quickly. I didn't ask, they didn't tell. I was just so happy to have ed everything working without any more of my own personal time involved. I was so aggravated over these lights. I hope you get relief soon.

Mine burns off the light bulb from the right turn signal all the time. That will be the front right side. Any idea what could it be?
@Pyro170594 жыл бұрын
What exactly do you mean "it burns off the light bulb" ?
@javierlongoria2744 жыл бұрын
@@Pyro17059 I have put a new light bulb 3 times already and it keeps burning the right turn filament.
@Pyro170594 жыл бұрын
@@javierlongoria274 hm..thats interesting. Haven't come across this problem ever. I suppose first Id double check that you're using the correct bulb. If thats correct, maybe hook up a voltmeter to that circuit and make sure its not getting bursts of high voltage somehow (doubtful) ...another possibility is cheap bulbs.
@skymiller5302 жыл бұрын
So what is the part number? If you don't remember the part number, what is the NAME of that part of the wiring harness? Good video, but revealing the part number or name would also be helpful. I have no idea of what to order to fix the problem. H E L P
