So while I did this I tried a different style of video with the voiceover. I'd like to get a better camera at some point for garage videos and also need to take more angles and detail when I'm working. Because the shed is a shared space I can't always record audio there as it can get very loud with other work going on and music. One day I'll have my own spot :)

First thing I did on all my machines in the UK was to swap to EBC pads as soon as I got the bikes. Braided I put on as soon as I could. Buell already had them. My Dual Sport VIAR came with them. Yes I agree people add go faster bits but forget the stopping. One small gripe. I would put copper grease or similar on back of pad, and on pins before re assembly. I would have cleaned up the pins too....... colour matched lines look good. Not aware they existed unti today. Thank you.
@TheGorillaBiker4 жыл бұрын
I'm the same, they really change the feel and feedback from the brakes and all. That's good, the fazer had standard rubber hoses when I got it and they had to go :D Exactly, stopping is more important. I've never put copper greases on the back of the pads from the fazer I put them on cars but the backing plate that comes on the pads on bikes is apparently enough. The pin I did actually clean off camera! Just forgot to show it. I like them :) I think HEL only started doing them recently enough. Thanks Stephen!

A great vid ,loving your work - one addition from my experience the pin that holds the pads in place can be a brute to get out and drilling them often destroys the caliper - thats a bad day ! - if you give them a polish with some fine wet and dry paper and a schmere pf anti-seize before putting them back in will mean they come out easy every time . ( and yes braided all the way even on rats - can you have too much back brake ?)

Thanks Ponkster!! :) Oh yeah I would not like to do that.....I'm actually going to take them back out and put some anti seize on them! I always give them a scrub off but hasn't done that! I have done the same, but am struggling to get pressure on the brake lever. No air bubbles anymore but the lever is very soft.
@TheGorillaBiker4 жыл бұрын
You definitely don't have any leaks anywhere on the fixings? Check for any leaking fluid or crossed threads. If not keep bleeding fluid through you may just have a trapped bubble. Another thing to do is open the reservoir and close all bleed nipples, then keep pumping the brake lever and watch the reservoir. If you're getting any small bubble at all you've trapped air somewhere. If so keep pumping for 20 mins or so and then try bleed through good fluid again
@168knk4 жыл бұрын
@@TheGorillaBiker no leaks, and have gone through 2.5 litres of fluid. Will try again today from the master cylinder down.

The blue looks nice :) I'd add add braided lines if I felt mine needed it, but the brakes on my bike work perfectly for my non-track use. And I have, unfortunately, had to test my brakes during an extreme traffic situation, and they exceeded my expectations by a good margin. But the HH pads will be the replacement pads when it's time.
@TheGorillaBiker4 жыл бұрын
Thank you kindly :) fair, and to be fair I probably wouldn't change them so quick if I had a newer bike until the recommended change out. I think once you hit the 4 year window braided make sense anyway so you don't have to change them again :) Yeah it's never pleasant having to full on test your brakes like that. To be honest, I don't really like the blue. I would've gone with stainless or black. I think it's just too bright of a blue. Maybe if it were navy. I don't have braided lines. I think I've heard you mention blowing a line and that's why you always switch to them right away. I do plan to get some stainless sometime, but only for aesthetics mostly. The extra strength is just icing on the cake 🙃
@TheGorillaBiker4 жыл бұрын
Fair. Im a known flamboyant asshole with colours hence the orange short too 🤣 but I agree they are pretty bright. I did indeed. Was nay good. Tbh that's a great idea even aside from the aesthetics most of them are lifetime lines so no more changing every 4 year etc and they won't swell :)

Just caught this p/cast I am going to put lines on my Magna project and on my XJR. You can get whatever set up you need :) If they don't have them as standard you just order the custom lengths and the banjos you need etc :) I personally would never look past HEL. excellent vid buddy all but one mistake you said fill up the master cylinder to the max, well you do that then when you install the new thicker pads you need to push the cylinders back into the caliper to make room for the new thicker pads hence taking your fluid level way way above the max line, would be better installing the new pads first then top up the master cylinder as required to the max line
@TheGorillaBiker4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah I realised that after I uploaded it. When I meant just above the full line I meant on my bike which has acres of excess room. But on other bikes not so much so hopefully no one over fills it 🤞

Yeah I like the blue. When I was putting my 14" T-bars on the Sporty I needed to get longer brake-lines, decided to go with custom made braided lines in black nylon. However I apparently just suck at measuring things and ordered brake-lines that were almost a meter too long. Don't ask me how, I don't know. It seemed a bit too long, but I figured "well I measured how long they should be". Had to order a pair of custom made shorter ones. Felt big stupid

Nicely done man! :) Bleeding brakes for me is one thing I'm suuuuuper nervous about for the two reasons you mentioned really. The mess that it can do to painted surfaces and also the fear of getting an air bubble in the line. I've only ever done it once on the old Super Four with the help of my cousin who used to be a bike mechanic so it was grand. As for the braided, are they really as good as people say? I was tempted to throw some on the MT if I save up. Would you recommend front & back? :) As for the blue, I really like it man. Suits the bike well as it's not an off coloured blue! I think I'd stick to black or grey for the MT but I think the blue works with the fazer :)
@TheGorillaBiker4 жыл бұрын
Thank you kindly! To be honest with the paint provided you have the recommended swimming pool of brake cleaner you'll be grand! And plenty of brake fluid to bleed it enough until it's pure fluid, it's more patience than anything :) I think so, they make a massive difference to older bikes anyway, to your one it'd just improve brake feel, also you never have to change your lines again they're lifetime guaranteed! I would yeah, you're well able to handle your bike so you'd be grand with the back! DO you have abs? That makes it super pricey but I still think worth it considering the whole lifetime thing! Thank you :) You could also go something mad bright for a bit of contrast but yano...I'm a flamboyant asshole anyway :) If you do them and want a hand you know where I am :)
