Good video mate, thanks for the quick guide. Do you know if there is some specificities for the rear brake pad & discs?
@christopherpeters299210 ай бұрын
I've upgraded the discs and pads and once you have the process down it really doesn't take that long to do anything to them. I have one more caliper to paint and then the rear drums . When it comes to changing those pads that will be interesting.

Still have to remember to press the brake pedal in after. Had myself panicking at work thinking something was wrong because the calipers were still fairly wobbly, turns out only reason was because the pistons hadn’t pushed forward

@@BTR_REBUILD stupid question but how did you remove the cap on top of the wheel nuts? Did you have the proper tool or are you able just to pry it off?
@BTR_REBUILD3 жыл бұрын
@@JVance98 I used a pick tool but I’m sure there’s a tool in the boot you can use. There’s a little slot you can get the tool behind just to pry it off without scratching

General rule of thumb is, only need to change discs on every 3rd pad change, unless badly scored, pitted, lipped, warped or corroded.

Hi Barry, I enjoyed your video, as I will be changing my front breaks on my corsa E vehicle, looks pretty straightforward. But I was worried about having the right tool to release the two bolt which are coved with two plastic caps. Could reply with the right tool for me as I need to get one. I'd be very greatfull if you could. Yours sincerely Barry .matthews

Hi I do have a question, when I changed my pads & discs, I didn't have any disc decrease, I noticed the effect on my breaking, as not as sharp as I wanted them, is there anyway of correcting this problem. Cos I feel as the crease on the pad may have effected them from breaking properly.

Hi, you may be able to give me some advice. Drivers side footwell getting wet in wet weather and minor flooded roads. It is soaking right now. Can the seal under base of the footwell be resealed by a garage? Or is it the wheel arch area?
@BTR_REBUILD2 жыл бұрын
The only seal I reckon it could be is the door seal? Check around the drivers side door and frame. Could just be one of the seals have perished or just not seated correctly around? Let me know mate

@@BTR_REBUILD Door seals seem sound and dry. Waters coming from under the carpet. Just where your right foot rests in my Corsa E. I think a seal has gone somewhere by there.

Not adviseable to force the piston back against the ABS module because you cause failure. Far better to fit a bleed pipe to the bleed nipple and crack the nipple. That way when you push the piston back the fluid doesnt affect the ABS pump. Simply lock back up and top up the master cylinder once done.
@BTR_REBUILD2 жыл бұрын
Ah right never even thought of that! Thank you for that, you’ve changed the way I’ll be doing my brakes forever! I think I must’ve watched a tutorial a few years back and just followed that procedure. But makes a lot more sense not to push the fluid all the way back up through the system. Thanks for watching and giving some constructive feedback, appreciate it massively!
@davesmith48042 жыл бұрын
Been doing it his way for years pushing the piston back with a hand clamp and never had a problem / failure, seen plenty of garages in the past do it that way as well..just make sure you undo the brake fluid tank and sit the cap on the top before and put it back on after...BUT I get what you're saying
