I have a 2017 3LT Z51 - I put these exact brake pads on and eliminated the dust and the braking performance was slightly better than stock too. It took me a little over an hour, but I cleaned the back of my wheels as I installed because they were filthy. Very happy with results.

Thanks for this video. The brake dust from the stock brake pads was driving me nuts. Brake dust would immediately make my wheels look horrible just after a complete wash. After watching this video and two summers with the stock brake pads I couldn't take it anymore. I changed out my stock brake pads even though they had plenty of meat left on them. I couldn't be more pleased with these Extreme brake pads. They have the same braking performance as the stock pads and NO brake dust at all. Now I can go for two or three weekends of driving without my wheels looking filthy.

I see you have the factory rotors with cooling rings. Mine warped around 4k miles and the vibration is noticeable on street, but expecially at 135mph on track. There is a TSB #16-NA-170 regarding this and a new one piece rotor being used on all newer Z51's. My dealer replaced all four of my rotors under warranty..sweet..
@CarGuy117 жыл бұрын
Thanks yes I heard and will try to get them replaced next time I take my car in.

Joseph Aiello Just came back from Spring Mountain for the Ron Fellows Corvette HPDE. During the tech session they specifically said NOT to leave cooling rings on except for track use. Told us the clips deteriorate quickly and they have had them come loose and tear up calipers (which I bet are a bundle). Just saying.
@jraiello7 жыл бұрын
vbdenny True, cooling rings should not be kept on per the instructions included with car for track usage. However, my point is to Eliminate them entirely by upgrading your rotors either under warranty or outside of warranty and never worry about them again...
@TheCarReviewGuys5 жыл бұрын
Thanks alot for sharing this TSB! My local dealer is checking my 14 C7 Z51 now. They think it'll cover under warranty! That saves me several hundred bucks!

I just received my z26 pads today and want to install this weekend. Did you have enough lube to apply to the back of the brakes? I have 300 miles on my GS so do I need to sand the rotors? Do you have any squealling or bronzing on the rotors? Thanks!
@CarGuy118 жыл бұрын
+J Doe Don't over do the lube and you will have enough. Don't need to sand the rotors with those miles. No squealing but they do make the rotors slightly bronze. Great pads tho!
@jman33508 жыл бұрын
Do these brakes make any noise? My current brake pads (cheapo ones someone else installed for me without me realizing/caring too much) squealed from day 1 and cut into my rotors. I've heard reports about these brakes just squealing up a storm. I'd be throwing them on a 2003 Mach 1 Mustang. I can get the kit for $330 so I feel like it's worth it.
@CarGuy118 жыл бұрын
+jman3350 No the Z26 pads don't squeal. Be sure to use the anti squeal grease.

Alright thanks! I had seen a video of some guy with his 2013 GT mustang having insane squeal but he updated the description to say that it was just a problem with the brembo calipers and the pads vibrating too much. Thanks :)

there are multiple notes on where to grease pads, some say only edges, some say do not grease the backs as it just collects dust, some say the pins also. how did you decide what to do?

The rear pads from z26, does it matter inboard/outboard that I put the one with pad wear sensor? and does it matter if the sensor is up or down? Because stock pad the sensor pad is outboard and up, and z26 it's at another position so it's either outboard and down or inboard and up.
@CarGuy115 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it matters as long as the pads are free to move in calipers.

@VetOnVettes5 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what grease is for in reference to brakes (anti-squeal adhesive). Stops high vibration frequency which is the squealing you hear. Its rare that squealing is caused by pad to rotor contact. but can happen with debris.
@thomascarrillo45485 жыл бұрын
I thought I saw him put the grease on the back of the pad where the calipers pushes on the pads? Not the front of the pads that touches the rotor.
@VetOnVettes5 жыл бұрын
@@thomascarrillo4548 Yes, that is the correct location for the grease.
