As I understood it, you have to loosen the nut at the end of the center console, then adjust the tension of the shoes through the hole in the disc until it's tight and doesn't move, then back it off 7 notches, and the in the end adjust the nut inside the center console, so your handbrake will now activate with good holding performance, while have apprx. 3 clicks to hold fully. So it's about the sequence of it. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards.

The nut inside the car does both wheels together, so can be used for periodic adjustment where both sides have worn the same. If only one side needs adjusting then move the drum adjuster. When fitting new pads, always reset the drum adjustment.

I think you refitted the shoe clips pointing in the opposite direction from which you took them off...

Yes, you are correct, well spotted! I don’t think it matters though.

Quick update : The new brakes are bedding in well. Initial results are good. There is a rattle from the pads due to not fitting the shims, so I have ordered some on ebay. Also, on the leaking HEL braided hoses, it looks like the thread doesn't go deep enough into the caliper hole on the new calipers, meaning the end seat was not sealing. The hose supplier, GoBraided, has kindly sent me some assorted end pieces to try, and has offered to make up some replacement hoses once I've identified the correct fitting. I'll make a separate video on this soon!

Beavis Pits Do you have a link to the parts you used please. Great vid by the way.

The discs were bought from MTEC (mtecbrakes.com) and the calipers and carriers were bought on ebay. The pads were from Eurocarparts. The braided hoses were from ebay, but I didn’t fit them in the end as they leaked. I hope to sort this out in a later video.

If you didnt change the caliper then your only getting the same swept area as standard .....so no change in braking performance??
@BeavisPits4 жыл бұрын
Same pad area on the front but the new carriers move it slightly further out so the braking power increases (radius/lever theory). For rear, it is the same braking but the vented discs will cool easier.

@@BeavisPits seen many of your videos and I'm impressed but on this occasion I really dont think it's worth the time and money spent for very little extra braking power, great content though....drilled grooved discs look good though

You have put disc on wrong side

I disagree. It is correct. The grooves should spiral outwards to expel water. This video mainly shows a REAR disc on righthand side so it turns clockwise.
