Our thanks to John, one of our Ashburn Driving School students who describes an experience he had while driving locally and how he handled the situation masterfully.

SAFETY ITEMS TO KEEP IN YOUR TRUNK:
Safety items are essential: a vest, a tire gauge, cones, flares, and other items may never be used, but they are the things that when you need them, you really need them and are really glad you have them.
Also don't forget to keep some mints and granola bars in your glove compartment in case you become drowsy and aren't able to pull over because of weather or locale. Having those handy will give you enough of a lift to keep you alert until you're able to pull over safely and rest your eyes.
