Bran reveals the Night King's motive. Finally! Bran: he wants to kill everyone. He's bad!
@davidtargaryen32294 жыл бұрын
The real twist should have been that the Night King is Bran... Like right at the scene where Bran and The Night King are staring at eachother in Episode 3, Bran goes back in time warging into the Night King’s body to attempt preventing the white walkers creation but then he, the Night King kills himself as he is trapped in that state, thus making Bran forever trapped in the Night King’s body. Would have explained why there was a deeper connection of sorts between he and Jon that one the Night King seemed to know about. It’s really complicated but once you understand it it’s a really genius idea. I was so confused when I saw the theory first but once I figured it out, I strongly believe it would have been one of the greatest twists ever!

I thought the motive was revealed back in season 5... or was it 6? They are essentially "Grey Goo", a biological weapon created by the children of the forest with a single imperative: destroy the humans; using ancient magic and dragon glass. When the children of the forest made peace with the first men; the walkers decided that the children were also an obstruction in that task. They were created to kill humans. And turned on their creators when their creators changed their minds. I don't know why people imagined the Night King would have a secret hidden motive. The white walkers *are* winter. They are a force of nature. They don't have a motive any more than the storm has a motive.
@ananrs87503 жыл бұрын
Because this paints the walkers as just a bad guy 101 and game of thrones “villains” have always been more complex than that. Besides, the WW’s also don’t kill everyone as shown in earlier seasons where they have a deal with Craster and also they let Will live in the very first episode. Lastly, throughout the series we’ve seen wars and we’ve seen the consequences, the chain of revenges etc. You can even say this show is anti-war, so to have the show just be a fight between good and evil goes against this trope.
@benlowe17013 жыл бұрын
@@ananrs8750 But they aren't really the villians. The villians are the humans. The nobles. The Houses. They're the *threat* certainly, but only in the same way that Walter Whites Cancer is a threat. The Night King isn't going to be the one that decides the fate of Westeros. The White Walkers are essentially an ecological disaster gone off the rails, but everyone's too busy pushing their own personal ambitions to figure out how to deal with them. They *arent* some nefarious intelligence, with some masterplan. Now, would that be a better plot? Eh. Maybe. But it's perfectly in keeping with the books, where the Night King doesn't exist, and the Similarly named Night's King is a historical figure who represents the only time the Wildlings and the Nights watch works together. I think expanding on the white walkers defeats the points of the white walkers. The complicated nuance is for humans. The White Walkers are inhuman. Unrelenting. A force of nature. And that's by design. I don't think its entirely fair to dismiss that choice as bad writing, especially as there is nothing in the books so far that suggests otherwise, and quite a lot that supports it. Except maybe that the Others of the Book are more Fey and ephemeral in nature. I still think the Winter being an ecological disaster, a released grey goo, is a more interest choice than another master planner, even if it were developed. It keeps them different, alien, to the human villians we are so used too, and really ramps up the notion of them being an unrelenting force of nature driven to exterminate humanity because that is what they were made to do. With nothing besides fulfilling that purpose. They spend the earlier seasons building, reproducing. Then, when the long night begins, begin to execute their programming. A sort of Fantasy AI. They aren't pure evil. They just... are.

@@ananrs8750 Yeah exactly. The Others/White Walkers were supposed to be sentient beings with a language and culture of their own. In the prologue of Game of thrones(the book), they are clearly speaking to each other and taunting the Rangers.
@baileydeverell1175 Жыл бұрын
@@andrewvincent7299 Does the Others having their own language necessarily mean that they aren't just a superweapon created to destroy mankind? I mean, for all we know they could be speaking the language of their creators the Children. Them having a language doesn't indicate any sense of higher purpose, especially given what we know about them in the books. That they corrupted and enslaved a great portion of the Night's Watch if the stories are to be believed. Considering the Night's Watch is an organization literally dedicated to defending mankind and created as a direct response to the Others, why on earth should anyone believe they have any higher motive than to kill off humanity? Edit: I realize that a lot of the White Walker/Other lore has been established by the show, but considering G.R.R. Martin has given us basically nothing except for what I assume were part of his notes for the show, I can only assume that the showwriters were following Martin's suggestions when it comes to the creation of the Others.

Why does everyone, including show watchers underestimate tyrion? In the books he killed a few northern warriors in the battle of the whispering wood. In both book and show he killed a mountain clansman. He also kills a few of stannis' soldiers in the battle of the blackwater. He also kicks the arse of that slaver guard whilst being chained up. The guys no Arthur dayne sure but he's not a bad fighter either.

She’s not a major character to the plot,but Alyssa Karstark, the last living Karstark is shown on 1:35 along the other leaders. Shes also fighting alongside Theon,and gives her life to defend Bran right before Theon’s Death. With her death,so too died her house. But they died with honor, redeemed of the sins of her fathers. You’ll be remembered Karstarks

This series is a masterpiece! The subtle mix of the wars of the roses with the lord of the rings. Then a zombie apocalypse on top (which in fact resembles the ghost army from the Lord of the rings - so yet another core Tolkien-ripoff element- besides the ring/throne everybody wants). I tremble in awe at this mighty concoction. Yours truly Dimwit Flatheadson

*I think the reason why season 8 was so bad, was because it practically was the first entire season the deviated from the books. Remember Season 8 in game of thrones is further in the timeline than whats happening in the books. So the story line is really rushed because unlike the early seasons they don't have George's books to rely on.* The story lines in season 8 were pretty much made up on the spot by the writers, which really showed on-screen.

How about placing Bran into Kings Landing secretly and position your army at Iron Islands until the dead goes away for you to follow later since he will follow Brandon Stark. Force Kings Landing into fight and once the dead and Golden Company engage you strike from back to dead. Hmm...Although Night King got some shit we have never seen before.Too risky ?
@alejandrodecesare59295 жыл бұрын
you got a point. Bring the fight to Cersei, force her to fight the white walkers. Though the have this magic thing with winterfell
@cedricbenjamin51565 жыл бұрын
So you think because Bran is not in Winterfell the Nk would skip Winterfell , are you drunk ?
@cihancinar77725 жыл бұрын
Cedric Benjamin It does not matter if he skip or not the Winterfell, army and it’s people would be transported to some other area where the dead can not reach like Islands. I would like to think that Dothraki would have an advantage if they could catch army of the dead in an open field in front of Kings Landing as well. Also they could damage army of the dead by setting traps or small raids through their rotation if possible. What I’m trying to say it’s not wise to take a direct hit from them or relying on just defeating Night King. This battle plan doesn’t cover everything and it seems like going to fail unless there are other tactics and strategies involved that we are unaware of which also I believe there is. We will see how it works out. 😅
@robbieodonovan443 жыл бұрын
That would be careless, sending the Night King down to one of the most populated areas in country with a White Dragon and 500 000 people to stand in his way .Not to mention 10 000 thousand of Golden Company and Lannister soldiers with armor swords and shields. Nothing would please him more to add fresh armed fresh dead men than skeletons and rotted carcasses as he already had. No no no. Need a different approach
@richardroberts60213 жыл бұрын
This didn't REALLY explain his motives, WHY does the Night King want to erase life? Is he trying to start the world over with his White Walkers? Like a Thanos type? And what Bran said, "he's tried before with many 3 eyed ravens," so there were many 3eyed ravens before Bran? But the only reason Bran was recruited to be the new 3eyed raven was to fight the White Walkers, yet he just serves as bait, seems like something any of them could have done. Se, this is why Brans storyline should have gotten more attention in those later seasons, bc none of this makes a lot of sense
