the tri pac is known as a apu auxiliary power unit it runs off the diesel fuel tank's it runs a/c and heat with the main engine off keeps the batteries charged and provides in cab power

Nice looking truck if you have the money, you only pull a top of the line Spacecraft trailer RV with this and nothing smaller or it will look out of place.

Ditch the TK Tri Pac and look in to #GreenAPU unlike the tri pac it has user serviceable part available at most auto part stores. Best APU on the market. No need for an external cooling fan.

Why would a truck like this he spec'd with a hitch instead of a fifth wheel? You'd think that the fifth wheel would be standard, and the hitch would be the conversion kit, lol!

I don't see why you couldn't haul freight with this. Hot Shot freight to be exact! Not no truckload freight, lol! It's basically a large ass pickup truck anyway, so why not Hot Shot with it? Lol!

Wow that’s a whole new level of ugly. Peterbilt lost me with the 589, they killed my favorite truck. The windshield is absolutely atrocious. The 567 looks so much better. Really nice build though

See, that's the thing! Nobody cares about cab space! Most of us who are long-hood finactics enjoy the narrow cab! The only time the 389 cab sucks is in a daycab, and it's bcuz of the length not the width. You can barely stretch ya legs in a 389 daycab, and I'm a short man, so I can only imagine headache for the taller guys! This 589 is a complete failure! I'm hoping people get together and demand that they keep the 389! The 589 is just not it! That truck should have been designated with a new series number, and designed with a completely new long-hood for the guys of the new school who are ok with the new long-hood/aero-truck mix! No different than the W990 from Kenworth. They didn't touch their classic W900 truck. They left it alone and built a different model, as they should have! You never change the classic truck! All these years, Kenworth hasn't made many changes to the W900. The onky thing I can think of is the dash, and that was for the better bcuz it took more gauges, 20 to be exact! Yeah, the 389 takes about 23 max, but hey! Nonetheless, when Peterbilt makes changes, it's always for the worse. First, it was the dash. They changed it and even raised it higher making it difficult for shorter drivers, but it took more gauges as well, so guys loved it. Then, they raised the height again, and then changed the headlights for no effing reason. Remember, we all originally hated the headlights, up until they started making aftermarket smoked out lights, etc., and then they realized they could swap back to the 379 headlights, too, so it was all cool. The only good change with the 389 that I can think of was the 3 inch extension of the hood! Either way, the changes were all minimal, so guys got over it, and we al fell in love with the 389! It was a newer version of the original 379! Now, this 589, is something a lot of guys won't get over. They changed shit that didn't need to be changed, like the gauge panels. They went from 23 max to 3 max! Owner ops don't want screens n shit. They want analog gauges. Peterbilt didn't serve the drivers on this one. They served themselves! If they had served the drivers like they always claim, the 589 wouldn't exist! We all know it, too!

Yeah, the money you would spend on it for hot shot or commercial use i would not recommend it. Too expensive. You can buy 4 HD trucks for hot shot. 3 or 4 used rigs This is built for luxury use but still performing like a commercial vehicle
