Anyone that is complaining about the price of this model or 3rd rail doesn't appreciate the fact that 3rd Rail has excellent customer service. Which is hard to find. Everyone that has a 3rd rail engine from there beginning to the present have said they've come a long way to producing excellent models and continue to improve them. I got 2 Santa Fe Zebra GP7s coming and I'm excited to get them.

GP 7/9'S my favorite diesel locomotives. It's just something that makes this engine class stand out . Especially running in real time on our now abandoned narrow gauge railway.

I love the fixed pilots and the fact that it doesn’t set high off the trucks. Honestly it looks more 2 rail than an atlas 2 rail geep. It would look even better with the 2 rail pilots.

3rd rail makes some fantastic models. They are great pullers too. Their FL-9s and PAs are my favorite.

When Conrail first was formed everyone loves that it got rid of Penn Central black but it also got rid of the green and yellow of the Jersey Central and the Erie Lackawanna, Lehigh and Hudson River the various paint schemes of the Lehigh valley Andy McGinnis paint scheme of the New Haven.

Very nice looking loco, Chris. I remember when this type of diesel started off mostly as a yard shunter and then as the power units were built with more available horsepower, they began to be used for limited range freight service. Looks great running on the layout.

Really nice. I was hoping that Lionel would make a Conrail Legacy GP9 but has not happened yet. I actually like the Railsounds 5 and think it''s a great sound chip. Lionel has made semi scale Conrail GP9 locomotives in the past. I did some research on this particular road #7156 because not all Conrail locomotives got painted blue. Some were actually scrapped before getting painted blue. Sometimes a model train manufacturer will produce a blue version although it was never really painted blue. A example would be the Lionel Conrail GP35 #2297 is blue however in real life it was scrapped before it was painted blue and remained in the PC black with a CR patch. However my research has found that yes Conrail #7156 was painted blue on 8/15/1979. So 3rd rail got it correct. Also the clear classification lights are correct. They were not red or green on these locomotives. I like roots blower whine on the sound chip, very realistic to a early EMD GP 2 stroke engine as the GP9 did not have a turbo. 2 thumbs up on this model.

Bout time you got some square Geep action on that layout!!!! 😃 The track requirements on that one are pretty nuts though, I'll stick the MTH versions that only need O31 and have PS3 opertion. Got 4 of those and a 5th on preorder!
