It is a maple neck. the fretboard is entirely separate from the neck. The neck so one hole piece and the fretboard is glued on the neck. You want the sound of one wood but the feel of another. That's one part of why the mismatching is happening and it's been like they for decades. And I don see why the lighter wood doesn't complement the darker fretboard. It looks fine.

This guitar was built with all the bell's n whistles, per say. Right down to the types of wood used to build the body, electronics, Super distortion pickups, coil spliitting ,Floyd Rose tremolo system. Not a one trick pony that's for sure. Definitely a Rock Machine. Great demo Cam ROCK ON.🎸

In the 80s, we'd get a guitar and straight away replace the pickups w/ dimarzio distortion +s, dimarzios still sounding amazing! And coil splits seem to reach deeper into the past w/ awesome 60s strat sounds ! Thanks for the neck profile info, Great demo.

I have a DK24 FR in Specific Ocean,as well as a Pro Mod(also in Specific Ocean)...the DK is hands down the best playing guitar I have ever owned...the neck is quite different than the Pro Mod,it feels a little thinner to me....the DK also has the lowest action...it almost plays itself....great guitars..

Awesome guitar man. I just got Old Yella last week, so pleased with it. The coil tap sounds are the best I've come across, I already use them almost as much as the full HB's. Along with the DK's, I think this range is gonna be big for Charvel 👍

Got it, gave it a setup and it is glorious. My favorite wood combo (ash/maple) and pickup set (paf pro/super dist.) A san dimas with this spec mustn't be ignored! I'm thankful you demoed this guitar. Otherwise I'd have likely never known about it.

WOW !!! what a performance...U really play great...I was after the neon pink basically because of the super distortion/paf pro combo(all time classic)but as a Xmas present got the old yella...beautiful grain & very fast...unfortunately I'm a bit disappointed of the full shred/alnico 2 pro combo so I'll upgrade with a super 3/gravity storm neck combo & hopefully I'll get the sound I want out of it...great vids U launch, I'm already a fan,thanX🎸🔥🤘!!!

I am rarely shredding but even so have an Ibanez RG that takes care of it. I am looking for a Charvel because it feels better in the hands than any others I tried. I am looking at the Charvel Chameleon because I like the look but I enjoyed the Old Yella feel too. Good points on the county of origin. Since you are the man, I’m asking what would you think is best for a main gigging guitar for one man busking that can handle folk to crunch to classic and southern rock. I use an Epi SG and surprisedly it does well with split coil . cleans I’m playing through a Hotrod but it’s not geared for Humbuckers. It’s between the ash hot pink, ash old yella, or the alder chameleon for me.

I like how it can squeeze out some Knoplfer-esk clean tones (my third hero), then obviously if I want to use it for what it was made for I can do that too. Broad daylight seems to draw out the neon pink, pics on the web don't. Hope they make a neon blue!

I doubt they'll ever change that since it is a big selling point for them. Given that almost people who buy a Charvel want to rock out, the freedom to bend for miles and have a flatter radius at the top end is far more ideal

I have a low-mid range Ibanez RGA, and I would like to upgrade the guitar with a change of pickups, I'm precisely interested in that Dimarzio set (Super Distortion and PAF Pro). I would like to know if that set of pickups is enough for me to play songs by Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Megadeth or Amon Amarth. In addition to its versatility in sound, I would like to know if it's suitable for the Ibanez model that I have, since its body is thinner than an RG or this Charvel. Hi Marcelo, those pickups will be just fine for you, no problem at all. They will suit your musical tast no problem but defintely check with a tech whether you need long legged or short legged humbuckers and whether they need to have 'F' spaced polepieces or not... :)

When I mentioned the thickness of the body of my RGA it's because I once heard that guitars with a thin body have a little more "sharp" sound, but I'm not expert in that topic. And that's why I had that doubt. If that set of pickups would make the guitar more "sharp", or rather, in some way, it would compensate the sound. Thanks again!

I’ve heard that the 1000 series Floyd Roses can have trouble returning to pitch after dive bombs and other heavy use compared to the Original series. Is this your experience with the tremolo?

I've never really had this problem although I have experienced it with the Gotoh 510 bridge. Once I figured out the nuances, I could return it to the correct spot without tuning problems
