My son lives in NC where some people are living in tents. He said FEMA came to evict people from temporary housing & it snowed last week. They gave them a short reprieve. He also said the Amish showed up & were building tiny homes. They did everything at their own expense. They were told by someone in Govt to stop. He said the Amish ignored the stop order & are still building the homes. Compare this to Ca. They were told by Biden they will get anything they need including salaries paid for 6 months. I feel extremely bad for every single person in CA who's lost everything in the recent and past fire. That said, they won't get a penny from me. They voted for those who are currently in power, the people who you put in charge who have done very little or nothing to prevent or at least mitigate the potential damage from wildfires. The insurance companies need to be investigated, they had to know something in order to cancel the property insurance a couple months in advance. They should be liable to pay every insurance they canceled. It was done so the federal government would pick up the tab. We need a thorough investigation into how all this came about and those involved should go to prison.

I'm no fan of insurance companies but they didn't do anything wrong here. They didn't cancel active fire policies, they stopped offering coverage policies when it became time to renew. They did this because the local government has created this disastrous situation where the fires cannot be controlled. The LAFD is under funded.
