Picking up one of the last Suzuki DR650SE motorcycles in Australia. I thought I should buy one before they are no longer available.

Congratulations on your new DR650! I absolutely love both of mine (2018 & 2020). Such great bikes! It looks like yours is set up very well from the dealership. You live in the perfect place to go enjoy it! Cheers Mate!

I truly love it. It is such a good bike and now I have all the bits on it - it's like I built my own bike customised for me 😀

Congratulations on the DR! It's a real shame that they were discontinued in Australia. We still have them here in the USA, but I cannot see them being available for too much longer.

It really is the perfect bike..does everything you need and more. If you can buy a new one before they stop making them. Was thinking about a BMW 100 Anniversary GS (as well) but I just know what will get ridden the most so not sure it’s worth it! The mighty DR. 😁 Thanks for comments. 👍🏻😁

Nice! Bought my new with the gray/ silver pattern in april of april 2022. Its winter now in canada and only managed 2.5k kms. Only mods is a skyhawk seat cause the stock one is a bloody 2x4!!!!. Be safe !
@mtscott Жыл бұрын
Yeah I immediately fitted a seat concepts. The original might have been worse than a 2x4! Bet you can’t wait until spring. Enjoy…👍🏻😁

Love my 2020 also. They are the best do all bikes out there. It is a shame it was discontinued in OZ.

Thanks mate. It’s a fun lightweight bike. I’ll ride it until I can ride no more 😁👍🏻 I’ll post some more upgrade videos (and hopefully get a bit better making them 🙄).

Still a nice bike. Last year the DR 650 was sold new in Europe was 2001. Unfortunately.

Stopped shipping them to Oz in 2021. I got one of the last new ones in the country in 2022. Suzuki was cleaning the warehouse out and I got one! Pure luck. They are great bikes - so simple and light. And the best bit: 1001 aftermarket parts...or if that the worst bit?! 🤣 I'll probably have it for the rest of my riding life. The big ADV bikes are getting too heavy for me.

Does it feel pretty nice. As far as torque and acceleration go?
@lifelongmotorcycling Жыл бұрын
It’s got as much as you need mate. I’ve ridden everything from a Honda 50 to K1300S and they all did what they needed to do. It hasn’t got the neck snapping acceleration of a R1250GS but weighs about 125 kgs less! It’s a simple 650 single that just keeps going. I can cruise all day at 110 km/hr or single track. I’m actually starting to gravitate towards it as my bike of choice when I do anything (I have a few bikes in the garage 😏).

As far as the klx300, crf300, or drz400 would you recommend anyone of these bikes or is the power to weak?
@lifelongmotorcycling Жыл бұрын
@@JeremyDovin Power is over-rated and I wouldn't use that as a criterion. Recall that they do the Dakar on 450cc machines. I have ridden round Northern Vietnam on Honda 250s and 150s. A colleague of mine went round Australia on a Honda 50cc Postie Bike. This primary issue is: what do you want it for? Then once you have that worked out you can determine what bike is "best". I'd look for reliability, comfort then customability. I'm 6'2" so those bikes probably getting a bit small in size for me plus aftermarket accessories not as good as DR650. KLX300: more a single track dirt bike. Crf300: Marketed as a dual sport bike. DRZ400: watercooled replacement for DR650. Not as versatile. Disclaimer: I haven't ridden them. Pick a popular bike, make it yours and ride it like you stole it 😀

I learned very quickly in 2021 after getting my DR' 650, wishing I had only ordered the engine & the frame. The rest of the components are cheap garbage. A class action suit should be brought up against Suzuki Motor Corporatism for that 2x4 they call a seat.
@lifelongmotorcycling Жыл бұрын
LMAO…how true is this. We buy a bike then throw all the OEM bits away. 🤣 The 4x2 seat I got rid of real quick. It was a shocker. Seat Concepts tall has greatly improved my comfort. Thanks for the laugh…👍🏻😁
