DR650 Staintune Exhaust

A clip that shows a stock standard DR, and then with a Staintune full system exhaust fitted - header pipe and muffler.

Just pick up my brand spanking new k8 Dr 650 se today. Great bike,rides really sweet. Will get used to it then add mods just like you have. I will wait awhile though.

@tubbybasset I did the carby jetting and opened up the air box, it does make a difference. Maybe 4 or 5 hp, also removed the rev limiter. Do it, its definately worth it.

They do make some gorgeous, great-sounding pipes! They don't have spark arresters, though, so they're not USFS approved, meaning a heavy fine if you're caught off road. I ride dirt, so I got a different pipe. If you just ride street, or live in a country where you don't need it, this looks like the pipe to get!

Yes, Ive got the Dyno Jet kit, new needle and now running a 170 Main Jet. Have also cut open the top of the air box to let it breathe better. The vid above is of the stock carby.

The Staintune header pipes are Stainless Steel, but turn that coppery colour after a while due to the heat of the exhaust air travelling thru it. The muffler remains a nice polished stainless steel silver colour.

Now the bike is jetted, running a Dyno jet kit with a 170 main jet, K@N Hi Flow air filter, and cut open air box. Rev limiter is also removed. Im running Mitas E-07 rear enduro and Pirelli MT21 front tyres. Vetura bike pack rack system also added. Farkles are still coming ... over time..eg Barkbusters,

No fuel indicator, you know youre low when the engine stalls and you need to switch fuel tank over to Reserve. Other than that, could open tank and look in to see how much is there.

Hi Peter, so this is not a 'slip on', this is a FULL exhaust that cost you $900, is this correct? Would you know how much for just the 'slip on'? I assume you bought it from your local motorcycle shop? Thank you Very much and regards. (Melb., Vic.)

man, that stock system is the ultimate kill joy. the stantune down pipes has a copper like finishing, what mterial is that? looks really nice.

Mines an 07. The only difference between the DR650 over the past 5 or 6 years is the colours used.

Think its about 40 or thereabouts kms from Reserve.

The full system is about $900 AUS. But it will last the life of the bike and never need repacking.

I spoke with the people at Staintune before I purchased the exhaust system. The bloke there recommended ...1)change the main jet to a 145 and 2) turn air screw out 2 1/2 times. I asked the mechanic to do that when he fitted the pipe. When I came to pick the bike up he said he didnt think it needed the rejetting work. So, as yet, I havent changed the jets, they are still standard. Cheers

well instead of pulling the rubber snorkle out of the box take the cover off it and put a piece of screen there pulling the snorkle will not do much

lol funny comments jet it there lean as you will hear it poping when you back off . i just purchased a 06 with 4000k for $5500 with tkp alloy muffler needs jetting bad . fuel ? mine will do 550-600 klm to a tank . 30lt after market tank $680

Have no idea of top speed. Ive been to 140kmh but I didnt want to go past that cos of nobby tyres and heaps of wind buffeting. If I had wanted to ride at break neck speeds I wouldve bought a sports bike.

"DONT GET A USED, New is always a lot better and a lot more reliable" no no... :/ its a bike that's been in production since 1996, i found a 1999 in mint condition for $1,100 its ran fine for the 2 years i had it (i've modded many things since then but nothings broke) i have put many many $$$ into it but i bet i haven't put even close to MSRP of a new one and i now have a better than new bike. :D (was better than new when i got it)
