Brand New Emirates A380 FIRST Class Review - Christchurch to Sydney (A6-EUK)

Emirates A380 First Class Review - Christchurch (CHC) to Sydney (SYD).
Join me on board a brand-new Emirates A380-800 (A6-EUK, built in June 2016, delivered to Emirates in December this year) in their fantastic First Class product. Watch the included inflight footage, a thorough look at the seat and other aspects of the suite, the in-flight shower, bar and the food and drink. But before that, I begin with a quick look at the Christchurch airport Manaia Lounge, which is a contract lounge used by several airlines and Priority Pass.

Emirates first class looks amazing, especially for a trans-tasman hop. I did SYD-AKL and return in Economy on an EK A380 back in 2014. Best flight I have ever been on.

Yep they've just upgraded the route from a 77W to an A380. I must admit I was actually hoping for a 77W but alas the A380 will do. :)

Why 777? I heard they had much better viewing from the window as the windows on the upper deck A380 are angled inwards awkwardly so viewing is a bit more restricted? Also the privacy doors in first class are higher on the 777?

Thank you for very informative video! Shower is a bit overkill for my taste but other than that looks like really solid product. Yet to see any smooth A380 landing. All of them look/feel like airplane is crashing down on its wheels. There should be explanation for that. And by the way nice shoes you got there!

Thanks mate. The shower is unnecessary but quite useful after a long flight if you're arriving in the morning and want to go straight to work. I'll be keen to try it properly next September when I'm flying from Dubai into Sydney (14hr flight) and arrive at 0700. I'll see if it makes me feel any more refreshed than usual. :)

Paul i found the product flat having just completed 7 first class sectors with emirates onboard a380 and 777. The food was truly the biggest let down especially the arabic mezza which was binned within minutes of being placed before me. Tbe quality isnt there just the quantity and kitschy bling.

Fair enough. I'm sad you didn't find the food that good. I totally agree that the gold/woodgrain is far too bling and I'm glad to see that they're using darker colours in the new F product.

Just wondering, can you hear the galley noise? I would guess that the FC seats all the way in the back will get a lot of "kitchen noises" from the galley.

Hey mate, there's a little noise but not much. While the suite is enclosed around the sides, the roof is open so you get a little noise.

Great video, quick question, how noisy was it in that seat, its right next to the Galley so I'm thinking maybe avoiding that seat on my Dubai - Perth trip as I would like to sleep? Also does it have 2 or 3 windows in your suite?

Personally, I have never flown long haul. Not many places in the world I have wanted to go to. I liked the look of the lounge in Christchurch. I like clean & decent, rather than bling or "up themselves".

You can (usually) only book them one way out of New Zealand, and I've only seen them that cheap with Qantas flight numbers, so book via qantas.co.nz. There are sales several times a month.

Emirates don't have a residence section. This is as good as their product gets. Apparently the Etihad residence is usually empty so it's unlikely Emirates would introduce a similar product when they refurbish their first class product in a few years.

Nice one again!!...may I ask what camera you use? I flew Auckland-Sydney a couple of years ago...you wouldn't want to know, but my camera's battery was flat. Strangely when I visited the bar and ordered a dry martini...shaken, not stirred of course (:-))...the attendant did not know how to make one !

Nice review! However I once again have to not how environment unfriendly this kind of travel is. As an example they take the water for the shower on board which requires additional fuel - on a flight less than 3 hours.... (I like flying and I understand a shower is great on a long flight)

When I flew first class from Auckland to Melbourne in Dec 2014, I asked for a glass of champagne for the welcome drink (as I was celebrating my 50th birthday). The response was that they were only serving champagne after takeoff. All the videos I see of Emirates, first class get champagne BEFORE takeoff. And I see that the basket of biscuits, chocolates and Pringles have disappeared from the shelf by the TV. Mine were taken pre takeoff for security and never returned.

I've always had dom served pre-takeoff although I did notice that the basket of goodies wasn't there this time. Usually they would take it and then bring it back to you once the seatbelt sign was turned off. I'm flying again with Emirates in October so it'll be interesting to see it the basket wasn't there because the CHC-SYD is a short flight, or if they're cutting costs across the entire network.
