Gram Parsons is likely the most under rated-semi-forgotten talent of the '60's. So sad their career as partners and lovers was short lived. I do wish our sensitive artist types could learn to live without all the life damaging substance abuse issues, before they are cut short. Thankful we still have Emmylou.

Gram had a hard childhood even though he came from money, but his father shot himself when Gram was 12, his mother died of alcohol problems when Gram was graduating from high school then he met good old Keith Richards from the stones who got him involved in drugs and alcohol, he still was really a baby but because of Grams past with his mother and father he was a great candidate for excesses, thanks K. I think a lot of younger people owe Emmylou for getting to listen to Parsons between 1980 and 2004 you would be hard pressed to find someone under the age of 45 who knew who he was but Harris constantly kept his name alive then we can thank the internet people looking for Byrds or Harris or even Ronstadt would see maybe Harris and Parsons "Love Hurts" well that's how I was lucky enough to discover him I knew the name but not the music.

Emmy Lou played around Wash DC in the late 60's when I was in high school. Folk clubs, etc. Somewhere she met Gram and he had hooked up with the Byrds and then made some solo albums, one especially was Grievous Angel with Emmy Lou Harris (she had credits on the cover) Not confirmed, but it's belived they had a relationship. Not the point. Two fantastic voices! and look back, Gram taught the Rolling Stones country music and they taught him heroin and he DIED way too young.

Angel's.tory. I also lived in the Maryland suburbs in the early 70's. A few times I saw and heard Emmylou singing in a DC bar called The Child Harold's. This was before she met Gram and she was an unknown folk music singer. I asked what her name was because her voice even then, I thought was fabulous. She was singing Joan Baez folk music with a trio. I think it was 1971 or 72. When she hooked up with Gram Parsons a few years later, I recognized the name immediately because I knew Gram had been with the Flying Burrito Brothers. He and Emmylou recorded 2 albums before he died. They were GP and Grievious Angel. I ran out and bought both albums in 1974 and I still have them. I have followed Emmy for nearly 50 years and have never tire of hearing her sing.
